Guillotine Grappling is back on September 12th with the Maritime Open.

This competition features Gi and No-Gi divisions for Kids, Youth, and Adults, including Adult Absolute divisions.

Location: Truro Middle School

Doors Open: 8:30 AM

Event Starts: 9:45 AM

Registration Fees

$55 – One division

$90 – Gi + No-Gi

Absolute Divisions:

$30 – One absolute

$40 – Both absolutes

The event has a set capacity.

Registration may close early once the event is full. Register early to secure your spot.

Experience Levels

Beginner: Under 1.5 years of BJJ or grappling

Intermediate: 1.5–5 years

Advanced: 5+ years

🏆 Division Formats

Regular Divisions (Guaranteed 2 Matches):

2 competitors: Best 2 out of 3

3 competitors: Round Robin

4+ competitors: Double-elimination consolation bracket

After one loss, the highest placement possible is 3rd

Absolute Divisions:

Single elimination

⚠️ Divisions may be combined, amended, or created based on registration numbers.

Age & Category Breakdown

Kids:

Ages 5-6, 7–9, and 10–12

Divided by experience and weight

Youth:

Female & Male: Ages 13–15 and 16–17

Divided by experience and weight

Adults:

Beginner / Intermediate / Advanced

Age categories

Adults: 18–29, Masters: 30–39, and Legends: 40+

Adult Weight Classes:

Under 145, 146–160, 161–175, 176–195, 196–215, 216+

⏱ Match Length

Kids: 3 minutes

Youth: 4 minutes

Adults: 5 minutes

⚖️ Weigh-Ins & Check-Ins

All weigh-ins take place the day of the event.

Kids: No weigh-in (Coach’s Honor)

Must still check in and sign waiver

Youth Weigh-Ins: 8:30–9:15 AM

Adult Weigh-Ins: Begin at 9:15 AM

✔️ 2 lb allowance

❌ Failure to weigh in before your first match results in disqualification without refund

❌ Missing registered weight = disqualification without refund

📝 Under 18: A parent or guardian must sign the waiver.

📩 Weight Change Deadline:

If by Thursday, September 10, 2026, you think you won’t make weight, message us on Facebook and we can move you up a division.

It’s better to compete up than not compete at all.

📊 Brackets & Schedule

Brackets and a tentative schedule will be released 24 hours before the event

Schedules can also be viewed on Smoothcomp during the event

A courtesy call will be made before your match
