The year 2026 brings new challenges for the Aviron Bayonnais 🎯.

It’s truly the first time the venue of the Aviron Bayonnais Rugby Pro won’t host scrums for a whole weekend! 🤪 Indeed, in May, Bayonne trades its rugby players for runners on a mission 🏃. No cleats or mouthguards needed to tackle the miles of AVIRUN. You’ll just need to bring your best running shoes and elbow your way to the start line! 💪

The iconic rugby club is launching a running event series: AVIRUN. This festive (and sporty! ☝️) event will offer several distances so everyone can join in at their level 😉. 5 km, 10 km, half marathon: there’s something for every taste! Young athletes will also have the chance to race inside the premises of the Stade Jean-Dauger, pretty cool right? ✨ By the way, we did the math: a half marathon covers roughly 210 rugby fields in a row, and that’s just mind-blowing 😯. Whether you’re a first-timer with a bib or a seasoned road racer, you’ll surely find your perfect fit🦶. Each course lets you explore, at your own pace, the charming Bayonne backstreets and iconic landmarks 😍.

Starting from the Palais des Sports de Lauga, a hotspot for Bayonne’s sporting events 📍, the routes will lead you toward the Floride district, then into the old town’s lanes and moats 🏰, between ramparts and Basque facades. The routes will wind through the moats, the lanes and the old town center of Bayonne: Petit and Grand Bayonne, offering a true journey to the heart of Bayonne’s heritage 🤩. For all three routes, a grand emotional finish is planned at the Stade Jean-Dauger, the temple of Bayonne rugby. You’ll be able to find the routes in detail a little further down ⬇️. A festive village awaits to keep the experience going with AVIRUN.

Bayonne is a city that loves to celebrate, gather, and share, as it does with the traditional Bayonne Fêtes 🎉. And beyond the runners, you’ll also enjoy the support of fans who will bring an atmosphere worthy of a game at Jean-Dauger 🏟️. Let’s be honest, with the Bayonnais, there’ll likely be as many songs, cheers, and fervor as a Derby night against Biarritzderby against Biarritz 🤼‍♂️.
