EVENT NOTICE / EVENT REGULATIONS
BJJ CUP BARREIRO
UMA – Unlimited Martial Arts, with the support of Academia Unlimited, announces the organization of the BJJ CUP BARREIRO, a competition dedicated to the practice and promotion of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, bringing together athletes, teams, coaches and the public in a competitive, organized and safe environment.
These event regulations establish the general conditions for participation, registration, organization, payment, weigh-in, competition, awards and code of conduct applicable to the event.
1. EVENT IDENTIFICATION

2. EVENT OBJECTIVE
The BJJ CUP BARREIRO aims to promote Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, encourage sports participation, value the competitive spirit and provide athletes with an organized, fair and safe experience.
The event also aims to contribute to the development of the sport, creating competitive opportunities for athletes of different ages, belt ranks and competitive levels.
3. REGISTRATION
Registrations must be completed exclusively through the Smoothcomp platform, within the deadlines defined by the organization.
Normal registration period:January 10 to July 4, until 23:01.
The athlete, coach or person responsible for the registration must confirm all submitted information, namely:
- Athlete’s full name;
- Team / academy;
- Age group;
- Belt rank;
- Weight category;
- Selected modality / division;
- Updated email contact.
REGISTRATION WILL ONLY BE VALID AFTER THE REGISTRATION PAYMENT HAS BEEN MADE.
The organization reserves the right not to validate registrations for which payment has not been confirmed within the defined deadline.
4. REGISTRATION PAYMENT
The registration payment must be made by bank transfer to the following account details:

After making the payment, the athlete or team must send the respective proof of payment, clearly indicating:
- Athlete’s name;
- Team / academy;
- Category or registration reference;
- Event name: BJJ CUP BARREIRO.
The registration will only be considered confirmed and valid after the organization verifies the payment.
Failure to make the payment or send the proof of payment may prevent the validation of the registration and the athlete’s participation in the event.
5. PARTICIPATION CONDITIONS
Athletes may participate in the event provided that they are duly registered within the defined deadline and meet the requirements of the category in which they are registered.
Each athlete must arrive at the venue with sufficient time to:
- Confirm their presence;
- Complete the weigh-in, when applicable;
- Follow the schedule of their category;
- Be available for match calls.
Underage athletes must be accompanied by a coach, legal guardian or responsible person appointed by the team.
6. CATEGORIES
Categories will be organized according to the registrations available on the Smoothcomp platform, taking into account:
- Age;
- Weight;
- Belt rank;
- Gender;
- Competitive experience;
- Number of registered athletes.
The organization reserves the right to merge or adjust categories whenever necessary to ensure the proper running of the event and to provide matches for registered athletes.
Whenever possible, the original registration categories will be respected. However, if there are not enough opponents, compatible division changes or mergers may be proposed.
7. WEIGH-IN
The weigh-in will take place on the day of the event, according to the schedule defined by the organization.
Athletes must attend the weigh-in within the indicated time and with sufficient advance notice before the start of their category.
The organization may give priority to the categories that are closest to competing, in order to ensure the proper functioning of the event schedule.
If an athlete does not meet the weight limit of the category in which they registered, the organization may:
- Move the athlete to another category, if possible;
- Propose a matched fight with a compatible athlete;
- Prevent the athlete from participating in the original division.
The final decision will always be made by the organization.
8. COMPETITION RULES
The event will follow rules adapted to the competitive practice of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, using as reference the regulations commonly applied in competitions of the sport.
Athletes must comply with the instructions of the refereeing team, area coordinators and event organization.
Any unsportsmanlike conduct, aggression, disrespect towards referees, opponents, coaches, the public or members of the organization may result in a warning, disqualification or exclusion from the event.
9. UNIFORM AND EQUIPMENT
Athletes must present themselves with equipment suitable for the practice of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
When applicable, the athlete must wear a kimono in good condition, properly adjusted and suitable for competitive practice.
The organization reserves the right to prevent the participation of athletes whose equipment does not meet the minimum safety, hygiene or presentation requirements.
10. COMPETITION SYSTEM
The competition system will be defined by the organization according to the number of athletes registered in each category.
The following systems may be used:
- Single elimination;
- Round robin;
- Matched fights;
- Superfights;
- Merging of compatible categories.
The final format of each division will be presented on the Smoothcomp platform and may be subject to changes until the day of the event for organizational reasons.
11. AWARDS
Medals will be awarded to athletes classified in podium positions, according to the categories held.
The organization may award additional prizes, trophies or special distinctions, if defined.
The medal ceremony will take place at the event venue, at a time defined by the organization.
12. CATEGORY CHANGES, DIVISION MERGERS AND MATCHED FIGHTS
If an athlete has no opponent in their original category, the organization will make all reasonable efforts to find a suitable competitive solution.
The following may be proposed:
- Category changes;
- Division mergers;
- Matched fights;
- Superfights.
When analyzing these situations, factors such as weight, age, belt rank and competitive experience will be taken into consideration.
Any matched fight or relevant category change must be accepted by the athletes involved.
13. REFUND POLICY
Registrations are the responsibility of the athlete or team completing the registration.
Unless expressly stated by the organization, no refunds will be issued in cases of withdrawal, absence, registration error or refusal of a match considered compatible by the organization.
If the organization is unable to find any suitable opponent for a given athlete, the possibility of issuing credit for a future event or another solution defined by the organization may be assessed.
Each situation will be analyzed individually by the organization.
14. SCHEDULES AND MATCH CALLS
The schedules of the categories, match calls and match order will be published through the Smoothcomp platform and/or the official communication channels of the organization.
Athletes and coaches are responsible for permanently following:
- Schedules;
- Brackets;
- Match calls;
- Category changes;
- Mat area;
- Updates published by the organization.
The organization is not responsible for athletes who fail to appear when called within the defined time.
15. SPORTSMANSHIP AND CONDUCT
All athletes, coaches, teams and spectators must maintain an attitude of respect, discipline and fair play.
Offensive, threatening or disrespectful behavior will not be tolerated.
The organization reserves the right to remove from the venue any person who compromises the proper functioning, safety or image of the event.
16. IMAGE RIGHTS
By participating in the event, athletes, coaches and teams authorize the capture and use of images, video and photography for institutional, promotional and sports-related purposes of the event, the organization and the sport.
If there is any specific limitation regarding the use of image, it must be communicated in writing to the organization in advance.
17. RESPONSIBILITY
Participation in the event implies that the athlete is in adequate physical condition to compete.
The organization is not responsible for injuries resulting from sports practice. Each athlete must ensure that they have the necessary medical and physical conditions to participate.
18. OMISSIONS
All matters not covered in these event regulations will be analyzed and decided by the event organization.
The organization reserves the right to change schedules, categories, match order, operational rules or procedures whenever necessary to ensure the proper running of the event.
19. ACCEPTANCE OF THE EVENT REGULATIONS
Registration for the BJJ CUP BARREIRO implies full acceptance of these event regulations, as well as the rules, conditions and decisions of the organization.
