In the Cévennes National Park at Florac-Trois-Rivières (Lozère, Occitanie), Zinzin Ultra-Trail opens four ultra-trail races around the Cévennes landscapes. The program includes 160 km (6500 mD+), 70 km (2500 mD+), 14 km (700 mD+) and the KV La Coulée de Rochefort (500 mD+, 1.5 km). The race is part of the UTMB® World Circuit, and the family is warmly welcomed with races for children.
The Zinzin Ultra-Trail is coming your way in the Cévennes National Park in Florac-Trois-Rivières, at the heart of the department of the Lozère in the Occitanie region 🥳. But what’s behind this name that sounds a bit crazy ? 🤪
The Zinzin Ultra-Trail (the ZUT for friends 🔞) is a race that starts in the village of Florac and offers four events for trail enthusiasts, or rather ultra-trail lovers... Here’s a peek at the lineup: Le Zinzin Ultra Trail of 160 km (6500 mD+ 😨), Le Trail des Steppes of 70 km (2500 mD+), Le Trail des Corniches of 14 km (700 mD+) and finally The Vertical Kilometer 📈 (KV for the insiders) named La Coulée de Rochefort, 500 mD + for 1.5 km of running.
Family-friendly: kids’ races 👧 are on the program every year. You’ll enjoy the Gorges du Tarn and other natural wonders 😍 nearby: Gorges du Tarn and more: Causse Méjean, Gorges de la Jonte, Aven Armand... L’Aven Armand? One of the most stunning caves in France 😍. We don’t want to teaser image of the view but hey... The 70 km runners will get to experience the three rivers of Florac-Trois-Rivières ! 🌊 A little anecdote shared by the organizer about the KV: in the 70s, every successful ascent was rewarded with an aperitif offered by the village mayor. But no worries, you’ll also get your own little refreshment! 😉
The other good news that may not be one: the race counts toward the UTMB® World Circuit... 🌏 There will be some speediness 💨 at the start line of each event! 🏁
The Lozère? 🌳 A nature-filled department where life is good and you’ll surely love it during and beyond the race! The land dear to the wolf of old Gévaudan 🐺 (the old name for Lozère) is France’s least populated, making it a dream destination for hikers 🚶🏼 and runners 🏃🏼♀️. Mountains, hills, rivers and forests cover 92% of the territory! 🍄 With family, friends or solo, guaranteed fun. North of Florac-Trois-Rivières, the department’s capital, Mende, is a very pretty town to discover, brimming with cultural treasures ... The Lozère is divided into four major geographic zones: the Margeride, a heavily wooded area with many streams, the Aubrac with its rivers and lakes 🏊♂️, the Cévennes Lozériennes, between Mont Aigoual and the Mont Lozère, and finally the Causses and its Gorges du Tarn. If you visit the Margeride, save some time to discover the bison reserve 🦬.
