Trail des Hauteurs

You see them, your prejudices about the 9-3? 🥷 Throw them far away and come run in Seine-Saint-Denis! Here, just a stone’s throw from Paris, right on the other side of the the périph’, contrary to what people think, we happily jog through the parks, with our noses in the wind, smiles on our lips and a calm spirit. In fact, the FSGT 93 (Federation Sportive et Gymnique du Travail) has received support from the Est Ensemble, an organization that brings together 9 towns of the area, to host an event in Romainville in 2022 : the Trail des Hauteurs, a fresh addition to the well-filled trail running calendar. And you can tell that competitors of the first edition touched the sky discovering the chef’s-kiss itineraries 🧅 cooked up by the organizers with, on the menu, 5 km, 14 km, 28 km solo or duo, and a mini-trail for kids 👧. Moreover, it’s important to note that the 5 km race and the walk of 5 km are pink-ribbon events 🦩 for Breast Cancer Awareness Month! You’re therefore doing a good deed by taking your bib for these events 🤗.

No European peaks here, not even mountains ⛰️ whose summits brush the sky, but a few small knolls (seriously steep, by the way 🐾), characteristic of the plateau of Romainville. Don’t get carried away, the altitude barely exceeds a hundred meters around here, but it’s enough to offer hilly routes, between town 🌆 and nature 🌲, with steep streets, access paths to the defensive forts built in the 19th century or parks laid out on former gypsum quarries and remnants of old orchards and flower fields 💐. When you pass by belvederes, from which the panoramas are exceptional over the city and its surroundings, you’ll feel like you’ve stepped into the divine skin of Mercury, the famous wing-footed Roman god 🕊. Reign in your ardor, there are still 14 miles to swallow in up and down !

In any case, open your eyes wide because the routes follow the path of the broad Est Ensemble project 📍. Named the Promenade des Hauteurs, or the Grand Chemin, this 42-kilometer long park offers panoramic views of the plateau of Romainville. Note the most beautiful spots and you might want to come back after your race! Check the date in your calendar: the Trail des Hauteurs is on October.
