10 km du Canal de Périgueux

City of art and history, Périgueux is the cultural and tourist capital of Périgord blanc (its name comes from its white soils and limestone). In the heart of the Dordogne (24) in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, this charming town bears strong marks of the Gallo-Roman era, as shown by its 44 monuments listed as historical monuments 🏛 (yes, you read that right, 44!). If you’re looking to get in a bit of sport before the year's end celebrations (yes, we know how it goes… 😉), we invite you to take part in the 10 km along the Périgueux canal, a road race that takes place at the start of December. So make sure you’ve got the right warm clothes! 🥶

Whether for fun or to push yourself, you’ll have pacers on hand to help you regulate your pace throughout the race: perhaps a goal to aim for? A kids’ race is also on the program around the Stade Francis-Rongieras, the home of the club of the CA Périgueux and its passion for rugby 🏉. It’s also the finish location of the 10 km event. The course invites you to run along the banks of the Isle Isle, a river that crosses much of the Dordogne, with a loop making it a return trip. The route is fairly flat and seems to have few particular difficulties, plenty of room for fun (and maybe a little faster time, who knows 🤷‍♂️).

Downstream from the race and to fully enjoy this little paradise in the Périgord, you can visit the Tour of Vesone (remnant of a Gallo-Roman temple) or the Saint-Front Cathedral (UNESCO World Heritage site and well known in Europe). For treats, you can enjoy the region’s gastronomic richness: between foie gras, duck confit, black truffle or chestnut, you’ll surely find something to delight your taste buds! 😋
