The year 2026 promises fresh challenges for the Aviron Bayonnais 🎯.

This is indeed the first time the stadium of the Aviron Bayonnais Rugby Pro will not see scrums for a weekend! 🤪 Yes, in May, Bayonne swaps its rugby players for runners in the Top 14 🏉 against highly motivated runners 🏃. No need for studs or mouthguards to conquer the kilometers of AVIRUN. You’ll just need to bring your best running shoes and elbow your way across the starting line! 💪

The legendary rugby club is launching an event around running: AVIRUN. This festive (and sporty!) event will offer several distances so everyone can participate at their level 😉. 5 km, 10 km, half marathon: there’s something for every taste! Young aspiring athletes will also have the chance to run inside the enclosure of the Stade Jean-Dauger, pretty cool, right? ✨ By the way, we calculated that a half marathon covers roughly 210 rugby fields in a row, and that’s pretty wild 😯. Whether you’re laceing up for the first time or a city-running regular, you’ll surely find your perfect fit🦶. Each course will let you discover, at your own pace, the quaint Bayonnais streets and iconic landmarks 😍.

Starting from the Lauga Sports Palace, a historic hub for Bayonne’s sporting events 📍, the routes will guide you toward the Florida district, then into the alleys and moats of the old town 🏰, between ramparts and Basque façades. The courses will wind through the moats, the alleys and the old town center of Little and Great Bayonneoffering a true journey into Bayonne’s heritage 🤩. For the 3 routes, an emotional finish is planned for a grand finale at the Stade Jean-Dauger, the temple of Bayonne rugby. You’ll be able to find the routes in detail a little further down ⬇️. A festive village awaits to continue the AVIRUN experience.

Bayonne is a city that loves to feast, gather, share, as it does with the traditional Bayonne Fêtes 🎉. And beyond the runners, you’ll also be able to count on supporters who will bring an atmosphere worthy of a match at Jean-Dauger 🏟️. Let’s be honest, with the Bayonnais, there will likely be as many chants, shouts and fervor as on a derby night against Biarritz 🤼‍♂️.

In just a few minutes, you’ll have access to the beautiful towns of Biarritz, Bidart, Saint-Jean-de-Luz, or Hendaye! 👀 Beyond landscapes, it’s a true way of life you’ll discover in these little corners of France 🇫🇷. Oh yes, don’t forget a detour to the magnificent Halles de Bayonne 😋. They host about twenty artisans and merchants who showcase local products. And speaking of cuisine, the local star is the Bayonne ham ! 🐷
