The Cheptain'Trail

Cheptainville, in the Essonne region, sets the scene for the Cheptain’Trail, a race that takes place in March, at the first signs of spring. That said, you’re in Île-de-France, temperatures can still be chilly and rain may show up 🌧️. Just a short hop from the capital, it’s an opportunity for a great run in all conviviality !

On this occasion, three distances are offered by the organizers with a 8 km non-timed, 16 km with a positive elevation gain of 350mD+ and a double ration with 32 km to complete in pairs with a higher positive elevation gain of 900mD+ ✌️.

On your route, you’ll find open plains to catch your breath in wide-open spaces, single-track trails, passages under bridges, pine and fern-covered paths, as well as rocks, icy terrains and sand where you’ll be supported by your duo to conquer the obstacles 🔗. This incredible stretch brings a touch of the famous Dune du Pilat. It feels like the Atlantic coast in the heart of Essonne ! As you might have guessed, the panoramas are worth the detour, especially since there are many points of view scattered across the course, which is packed with little summits. It’s truly a signature route for trail fans, with abundant single-tracks and forest lanes, in addition to quarries and rocky stretches 🤩.

After the race, the Château de Courances opens its doors to you, just like the domaine de Courson and the domaine départemental de Chamarande 🏰. For a treat for the palate, the goat cheese and the pithiviers will delight your taste buds 🧀.
