"In red and black, I will exile my fear, I will climb higher than these mountains of pain..." 🎧, that sounds pretty good as motivation for your next challenge! This year, the 80s are in the spotlight for a new edition of the Marathon of the Terroirs of Valais BCVS! 🎉

The canton of Valais, in Switzerland is a region highly popular with French and Italians 🇮🇹, many of whom settle in the south of the country! And you can see why, given the beauty of the landscapes 😍. To find the start line, it's simple: from the airport of Geneva, head toward the Lac Léman while following the Rhône valley 🚣‍♀️. Once you reach Martigny, you can drop your bags and lace up your sneakers: you're arriving at the right place ✅. This is where the Marathon of the Terroirs of Valais BCVS, a must-attend event on this year's road racing calendar! 🗓️ The second largest city in the canton hosts many runners on the route starting from Martigny 🏃‍♀️. You'll see right away on site (if you're clever enough to heed our tips and sign up) but the party will be in full swing since races can even be run déguisé 🎊. And this year the theme is: the 80s ! 🕺 So, will you opt to be neon-clad in next May ? 👨‍🚒

The race is presented as a sport-filled 💪, epicurean 🍽️ and festive 🎉. You have a choice between 4 races of 5 km, 10 km, 21 km and 42 km, as well as a 10 km walking option 🚶. Kids are spoiled too as 3 races are exclusively reserved for them! 👧 Oh, they clearly love to make us happy 😏. So here's where you can find happiness and have a great moment with family and/or friends! 👯 Plus, all courses are accessible to handisport athletes 👨‍🦽. And all along the course, there are activities for you, with sections that are totally wild to make the kilometers fly by! 🤪

Time for you to run through the vineyards 🍇, orchards 🍎, the banks of the Rhône and all the landscapes of the Valais plain, enveloped by mountains 🏔 that will accompany your strides. There’s little elevation gain to factor into the routes, which should help with great performances ⏱️ and access to amateurs and handisport athletes. With all these vibes, you can’t help but don a suit! 👔 And you want another cool option from the organizers of the Marathon of the Terroirs of Valais BCVS? This marathon can be run as an Ekiden (a relay for 6 🤝). Born in the Japan 🇯🇵 in 1917, this discipline has found its European audience 👊. This year again, the "Mascott'run" will see clubs', company', association', stations' mascots competing on a 400 m course 😎. And because the organizers have thought of everything, if you want to keep the party going with friends, that will be possible! ☝️ Dressed in your best big-80s costume 🦸‍♂️, you’ll dance the night away at the Maratho’night 🪩.

If you’ve never crossed the border into the most neutral country in the world, know that you’re about to discover a multicultural country, with a very rich and varied natural heritage... 🌆🌳 Like the Jura mountains and the Alps that surround the country. Lovers of mountains, hiking and skiing will also surely love the Valais! This canton is home notably to the Pointe Dufour, which rises to 4 634 m elevation, the highest peak in Switzerland and the second highest peak in the Alps after Mont Blanc 🤯. Finally, if you want to discover one of the 4 major cities of the country (and we know that will be the case 😬), all very dynamic and interesting to visit, Geneva, Lausanne, Bern and Zurich, it's very easy. They are all gathered in the Moyen-Pays, a plateau that runs across the country from East to West.
