Face the challenge at the heart of Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park, one of the most picturesque corners of Finnish Lapland. In July, the midnight sun offers a continuous race with distances of 15 to 160 km (160 km Hetta via Pallas to Ylläs; 100 and 66 km; 37 and 15 km) across Arctic crests, rocky trails, and sandy moorlands.
Take on the challenge at the heart of Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park – one of the most picturesque corners of Finnish Lapland! NUTS Ylläs Pallas takes place in July, in the middle of the Midnight Sun, when the sun never sets for a moment 🏃☀️. Runners can choose from ultra-tough distances – 160 km (Hetta via Pallas to Ylläs), 100 km and 66 km, as well as shorter 37 km and 15 km routes. The course traverses the open ridges of Arctic fells (tunturi), rocky trails and heaths in one of the purest airs in the world.
After the race and a well-deserved recovery in a traditional sauna, Lapland summer offers an incredible space to rest: Climb to the summit of Taivaskero (the highest point of Pallas), where, in 1952, the symbolic Olympic flame was lit before the Helsinki Games 🏔️. With family, take the cable car to the top of Ylläs or visit the nature discovery center Kellokas, to discover the region’s history and Sami culture 🚡. Then head out on a lake excursion to Jerisjärvi toward the Arctic Sauna World complex for Relaxing baths, then a short ascent to the Särkitunturi – a hill famous for its crystal-clear small pond at the summit 🌅.
