Le marathon de l'Antarctique est le marathon le plus au sud de la planète, officiellement reconnu par le Guinness World Records et couru entièrement dans le cercle antarctique, au glacier Union. L'événement offre un défi extrême et intense sur la neige et la glace, avec des conditions météorologiques imprévisibles, des températures négatives et des vents qui rendent chaque course unique. Un semi-marathon, le Frozen Continent Half Marathon, se déroule en même temps. Malgré les conditions difficiles, l'ambiance est super sympa, avec une bonne ambiance entre les coureurs d'élite et les aventuriers venus du monde entier. Des moments historiques, comme l'arrivée de la flamme du marathon en 2012 et un documentaire nominé aux Emmy Awards en 2010, ont contribué à la renommée de l'événement. Avec des catégories hommes et femmes et des records aussi rapides que 2 h 53 min 33 s, ce n'est pas juste une course originale, c'est un test d'endurance compétitif et extrême. Le marathon des glaces fait partie de la série Runbuk, avec le marathon du pôle Nord et le marathon intercontinental de l'Antarctique, et c'est une porte d'entrée vers les prestigieux clubs des 7 continents et du Grand Chelem du marathon.
