About this event
Since 1988, the Moorea Marathon has established itself as Tahiti's flagship race, held every October on the paradisical island of Moorea. Four distances are on the program (Marathon, EDT Engie Semi-Marathon, Polymat Aito Race 10 km, and Rotui Kids Run), with starts and finishes on Temae Beach and a finale on the sand. Festive atmosphere, tropical out-of-season vibes, and lush green scenery will accompany runners during this weekend dedicated to fitness and celebration.
IA ORA NAAA ! 👋 We’re flying to the paradise island of Moorea, located 17 km northwest of Tahiti in the heart of the’Pacific Ocean, which is nicknamed “Tahiti’s sister island” with its triangular shape that makes it so distinctive. 🏝 We present to you the Moorea Marathon, the marquee Tahiti race since 1988, held in October with the island climate we know: humidity and heat that can be sweltering. Festive atmosphere, change of scenery and friendliness will surely be on the agenda. 🥳
To kick things off, the Aremiti Glow Run (5 km), a nighttime and fun run organized the day before the main races with one guiding principle: have fun. You’ll get to witness the Tahitians’ joy of life and their good vibes that know how to loosen up the atmosphere and party! 🎉 The next day, four distances will be on the schedule: the Moorea Marathon, the EDT Engie Semi-Marathon, the Polymat Aito Race (10 km) as well as the Rotui Kids Run for the youngsters.
The starts and finishes of these races will take place on the stunning Temae Beach, including a sprint on the white sand to finish the events where you’ll need Mana, the sacred strength of Tahitians, to end in style 💪! Before this breathless finish, you’ll have the chance to discover a fairly lush and tropical vegetation along your route with its multiple palm trees and emblematic Polynesian flowers (the hibiscus, the frangipaniers or the tiare flower). 💐
If you’re not too focused on your shoes, you’ll be able to admire Mount Rotui which separates the bays of CookOpunohu absolutely stunning: don’t forget to check out the water color, the gradients are fascinating ! After giving it your all, you can relax at the Marathon Village which hosts traditional activities throughout the race weekend (dances, themed meals) and why not sample the famous poi tuna a Tahitienne 🐟 to a ukulele tune in this extraordinary place... 🪕
