Want to feel what running feels like where the eagles circle? This summer event in Ustrzyki Dolne, on the slopes of the Żuków massif near Ustjanowa Górna, combines trail running with a unique aviation vibe. Choice of distances, including the demanding 10 km and a Nordic Walking walk, with breathtaking mountain landscapes and forest trails.
Do you want to feel what it’s like to run where eagles circle under wide skies and where nature always sets its own rules? The Aviators Race of the Bieszczady – Summer in Ustjanowa Górna is the summer trail version of the legendary winter ski event, with an incredible aviation vibe! The route leads up the slopes of the Żuków Massif – where, between the wars, Europe’s largest glider pilot school operated. Demanding mountain trails, forest tracks and breathtaking views await runners. You can choose among superb distances (including the iconic 10 km, demanding) as well as Nordic Walking 🏅.
Ustjanowa Górna sits right next to Ustrzyki Dolne – the winter and summer capital of the Bieszczady. From there, you’ll reach magical Lesko in just 20 minutes, Sanok in 45 minutes, and the shores of the Solina Lake in less than a quarter of an hour 🚗. Once you proudly cross the finish line with a medal around your neck, this charming corner of Poland will offer you top-notch rest:
Family Soaring Traditions : Since this is the Aviators Race, definitely visit the Bezmiechowa gliding field ✈️. Known as the “holy mountain of gliding,” it offers one of the most beautiful panoramas in all of the Bieszczady. Watching those silent machines take off there is an amazing experience for kids and adults alike.
Romantic Ride for Two : Take your partner from the Solina Lake 🌊. A stroll along the imposing dam or a private ride on a cable car above the lake are perfect, effortless ways to spend the afternoon and relieve tired legs.
Mountain Calories : After the climbs in the Bieszczady, your body will crave solid fuel 🤔! Drop into a chyża or a regional inn and order some hreczanyki (buckwheat crepes) with cream and mushrooms, or some fuczki – Bieszczady cabbage-filled crepes.
