The Bretagne Ultra Trail in Doëlan, Finistère, offers 3 demanding trails of 29, 59 and 103 km with significant elevation gains (up to 2000 m D+). 99% trail routes, start accessible by shuttle and passing through Locunolé, Organ wood, Pontcallec forest and Rosgrand wood, ending in Doëlan. Intensive preparation and majestic scenery guaranteed for trail and endurance enthusiasts.
If your level of preparation is at its peak and you want to give it your all, launch yourself into the Bretagne Ultra Trail in Doëlan, in Finistère. Late April, under a likely rainy weather 🌧️ (no, this isn’t a cliché; it’s just statistics 🤷), gear up to keep your calves warm, it’s going to climb, and not a little.
Before we dive into the subject, with a course as wonderful to look at as it is demanding on your thighs, we’ll talk distance. There are 3 trails on offer: the 29km, the 59km (2 ITRA points) and finally the big chunk: the 103km (4 ITRA points). Everyone is treated the same with a lot (even a lot) of elevation to expect 😅. To give you an idea, elevation can reach 1000 mD+ for the intermediate race and at 2000 mD+ for the 103km. This is no joke! You’ll tread 99% trail with only a small percentage on road. It’s going to be tough, my finisher friend!
The starting point is accessible by shuttle. Yes, we save energy! For the tougher trails, the climb starts hefty right away, no time to ease into the vibe 🕺. Then, from Locunolé, the course is identical for all races. You’ll pass through the Organ woodyou’ll discover the Pontcallec Forest and you’ll run under the trees of the Rosgrand wood. And the grandiose scenery doesn’t stop there. To reach your goal, you’ll admire the Hanged Man’s House at the cliff edge 🏠, you’ll encounter a few magnolias 🌸 and you’ll smell the scent of the sand (not too hot but still). Sea, river, streams, you’ll cross several water points during your race, and despite extreme suffering during your little afternoon climb, avoid taking a dip, the water is icy 🥶. The finish is the same for everyone, in Doëlan.

So, if you want to turn your physical prep into the ultimate victory at the Bretagne Ultra Trail, warm up your legs right now 🏃. For after the race, the area isn’t short on stunning and unique places 🤩 so this time, discover them by strolling. That’s also part of the goal!
