You thought Romania 🇷🇴 was just about Dracula and the Carpathians? 🧛‍♂️ Think again!

Bucharest is waiting for you on your feet 🦶 to show you its most beautiful streets during the Bucharest International Half Marathon by Constantina Dita presented by Decathlon. Initiated by Constantina Diță, Olympic marathon champion 🥇 (truly a legend this time), this event promises an unforgettable experience whether it’s your first half or your 15th. It’s in April that you’ll need to head to the Romanian capital to participate in this beautiful race 💫. As for spring weather, expect temperatures around 15/20 °C 🌡️, ideal for running. Well, a few showers are still possible ☔️, but we won’t nitpick. Still, remember to check the forecast a few days beforehand, you never know 👀.

Before you hit the Bucharest streets, let us present the event schedule 🫡. Open to all levels, whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned finisher, this race puts inclusion and diversity at the forefront ✊. Several distances will be offered. The flagship event is of course the 21.0975 km half marathon on a flat and fast course. If you prefer to take it easy or simply want to treat yourself, we especially recommend the 10 km to discover the city’s most beautiful monuments 🏙️ such as the Arc de Triomphe or the Romanian Athenaeum. For the younger crowd or those who want to share a fun moment with loved ones, there is a popular race of 3.5 km open to ages 8 and up (accompanied for those under 10). Bonus 🍰 : a 10 km wheelchair race is offered free of charge, because sport is for everyone! No matter which distance you choose, you’ll discover part of the city center and the Herăstrău Park 🌲. The more you run, the more you’ll see, that’s for sure! 😉

After racking up the kilometers, you’ll surely deserve some rest 💤. Our tip: take advantage of your stay to explore the richness of Bucharest. Nicknamed the “Little Paris of the East” ” (without the Eiffel Tower, but with the Arc de Triomphe), this city will charm you with its grand boulevards, its parks and its cultural buzz. You can visit the Palace of the Parliament 🏛️, a true architectural behemoth of 350 000 m2! You can also stroll through the historic Lipscani district with its cobbled lanes and terraces. Don’t hesitate to wander into the Herăstrău Park 🌳, with its promenades and its lake 🛶 (perhaps still a bit chilly at this time, but great for recovery! 🥶). If you’re into culture, don’t miss a visit to the Village Museum, an open-air museum showcasing traditional Romanian architecture (spoiler, it’s absolutely charming 🤩). If you’ve got a few days, set one aside to visit the castle that inspired DraculaBrașov. Don’t miss popping into this city elsewhere, it’s the Transylvania in all its splendor! And we wouldn’t want to skip the local gastronomy: sarmale, mămăligă and mici await you. Your taste buds will thank you 🫦 !
