La traversée à la nage de Cedar Island est un événement caritatif de natation en eau libre très réputé qui se déroule dans les baies arrière d’Avalon. Reconnu par l’Association mondiale de natation en eau libre comme l’une des meilleures épreuves de natation des États-Unis, cet événement consiste à faire le tour de Cedar Island sur un parcours conçu pour tirer parti des courants de marée. Les recettes sont reversées à la Challenged Athlete Foundation – Operation Rebound. L'accent est mis sur les mesures de sécurité grâce à une assistance sur l'eau et à des consignes spécifiques relatives au parcours. Cet événement fait partie de la série estivale de natation en eau libre TKC, dont le point d'orgue est la remise du prix « Triple Couronne » aux participants qui terminent toutes les épreuves de la série.
