In the heart of Landes, Vieux-Boucau-les-Bains hosts the Challenge du Vieux Boucau triathlon, on the Atlantic coast between pine forest and golden beach. Three formats are available to triathletes: Sprint (750 m swim, 20 km bike, 5 km run), Olympic (1.5 km swim, 40 km bike, 10 km run) and Middle Distance (1.9 km swim, 90 km bike, 21.1 km run), with relay possible. Three days of celebration, entertainment and pasta party, and a door to The Championship for the best.
Looking for a triathlon that smells like the Landes? 😎 Head to Vieux-Boucau, in the Southwest of the France 👀, on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, between pine forests 🌲 and waves breaking on the beach 🏖️. This is where the Challenge du Vieux Boucau, a must-attend event for triathletes of all levels! 💪
The event offers several formats depending on how pumped you want to be, or how much you want to have fun: the Sprint 🌪️ for those who want to go fast without burning out; 750 m of swimming, 20 km of cycling, 5 km of running 🏃♂️ ; the Olympic Format 🏅, for those who love the classic distances; 1.5 km of swimming 🏊♂️, 40 km of cycling, 10 km of running ; and the flagship format, the Middle Distance 🥊, reserved for the beasts of the sport; 1.9 km of swimming in the lake, 90 km of flat but wind-exposed cycling, and 21.1 km of running around the lake to finish strong 🎯. You can also participate in a relay if you want to share the effort. And for the youngsters, there are children's races organized at suitable distances, family vibes guaranteed 👧.
All of it takes place over three festive days, with activities, music, a drink stall and a pasta party 🍝. The race village is friendly, volunteers are there to cheer you on, and the organization is tight! 🫡 You just focus on your race, the rest is taken care of. And if you want to qualify for The Championship 🏆, it’s all happening here: the winners of each category can earn their ticket to this international final 🥁.
But this triathlon isn’t just about a time—it's also a chance to discover the Landes’ easygoing vibe 🤩. Before or after your race, you can stroll along the wide sandy beaches 🤗, catch a surfing session! 🏄♂️ And if you want to explore a bit more, you’re not far from Hossegor, Capbreton or even Biarritz. You can also delve into the Landes forest for a bike ride on the cycle paths 🚴♂️, or discover the charming villages of the Pays Basque. Between sport, nature and ocean 🌊, you’re sure to have a blast! 😎
