It’s in the Hauts-de-France region, in the Nord department, more precisely in Caudry, that the Lace Run gives you a date at the beginning of March 🗓️. Organized by the Union Caudrésienne d’Athlétisme, this event local and friendly, offers you a wide range of events that, without a doubt, will satisfy you 🤓. March brings back the beautiful days ☀️, but tread carefully, because spring 🌸 only arrives at the end of the month. So don’t forget your technical underwear if you don’t want to be caught by the cold of the North. 🥶

For a long time, Caudry remained a village indistinguishable from its neighbors. Just a stone’s throw from Cambrai, famous for its battle 🪖, and for Belgium 🇧🇪, known for its fries 🍟, the Manneken Pis, Angèle and the joie de vivre of Thibault Courtois 🧤, this town has been shedding its old image in a few decades thanks to the textile industry 👗. After football ⚽️ and rugby 🏉, the making of tulle and lace (hence the race name) that we import from across the Channel 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿. When exploited, once again in a better way (a little jab at our British friends), this activity makes the city, in tandem with Calais, the world capital of lace 🌍. Another important activity in the city for years now, the Lace Run is not to be missed ⚠️. It’s a rich and varied program awaiting you over the two days that make up the weekend. On Saturday, it’s the Nordic walkers who will be honored with two distances of 6km and 12km. “Monsieur Dusse, what’s not working is the planté de bâton”The Sunday, the day of the Lord ✝️ and again some walkers 🚶🏼‍♂️, but not Nordic this time, unless you are a local of the event. The 5km and 10km walking distances are also the distances you can find on the race 🏃🏼‍♂️. By the way, the 10km is kept as a qualifying event for the French Championships 🇫🇷. We hope you’re in good shape, because either paved roads or, if not, hard and even surfaces (cycle paths, pedestrian paths) are surface conducive to performance ⏱️. Don’t run too fast if you don’t want to lose the tombola ticket 🎟️ that could potentially win you… a TRIP ✈️ ! “Further than Night and Day” 🎶

If you’re looking for new challenges on the road 🛣️, we can suggest the Lille International Half Marathon in March or The Valenciennes Runs in April. As for the trail 🌳, the Course des Terrils in September and the Course du Chicon in October, are two nature races 🍃 that will satisfy you. We mentioned it earlier, but if you want to extend your weekend, Cambrai is a town where you can do a few silly things 🙈. Like visiting the Museum 🖼️, the Notre Dame Cathedral or the Saint-Gery Church. On the culinary side 🍽️, apart from the sweets 🍬, you can of course sample a good fricadelle like Dany Boon and Kad Merad, a good flamiche or the famous carbonade flamande. 😋

When you come to the North, you honk twice: on arrival and on departure 😉
