About this event
Come run in homage to the chicon, the gastronomic emblem of the North, in Baisieux, Hauts-de-France. Three trails of 5, 10 and 15 km and three walks of 6, 9 and 14 km await you, with activities for children and a babysitting service. Rolling courses passing through the village and the surrounding countryside, and the first 1800 registrants will receive a book of chicon (~500 g) with a meal provided by the organizers.
Come run in honor of this northern culinary landmark, the chicon! We’re waiting for you in Baisieux, in Hauts-de-France, with October’s typically cool temperatures to take part in the Chicon Run. Also bring a rain jacket—rain is forecast ☔️!
Three trail races of 5 km, 10 km and 15 km, as well as three walks of 6 km, 9 km and 14 km. There will also be kids races and even a nursery so the whole family can enjoy the event. In all cases, these are rolling courses that pass through the village of Baisieux and its surrounding countryside. You’ll get to discover all the key spots like the church, the village school, the old manor’s location and the Ogimont manor. You’ll stroll along tree-lined paths before crossing the river La Marque to finally leave your mark on this race. 👣
We’re not kidding around 😆: the first 1800 registrants will receive a bag of chicon, about 500g. It’s enough to get you back in the kitchen to rediscover this iconic product from the North of France and from our Belgian friends 🇧🇪. For even more chicons after the race, you’ll enjoy a meal offered by the organizers, 100% chicon of course.
By the way, what is a chicon? Nicknamed the “pearl of the north,” this vegetable comes from a chicory root, hence the name. And if some call it endive, it’s because of a naming error made when Brussels chicon was introduced to Paris in the 19th century. Today, 90% of French production, the largest in the world, comes from Hauts-de-France. That’s enough to blow your mind!
Treat yourself to all the chicon-based cuisine and if you want to stretch your legs a bit more, you can head to the nearby Belgian border to share your thoughts on the taste of Belgian chicons 🥬! But be careful, no mixing chicons and napkins!
