In Paris, the Course of Lights combines sport and solidarity in a nighttime setting along the banks of the Seine, amid the iconic monuments of the City of Light. Choose between a road race of 10 km or 5 km, running or walking, while waving your light baton to illuminate the cobblestones and support Institut Curie with a €10 donation. The friendly event takes place at the end of November in the capital and its grande ville, where more than 56,000 street lamps light up the course.
Come light up the streets of the capital for the Course des Lumières ! 🌟 It’s in Paris, in Île-de-France, where this unique event blends sport and solidarity! 💪 You’ll run along the quais de Seine, amid Paris’ most beautiful monuments, while supporting the Institut Curie and the Fight against Cancer 🎗️. With every stride or step, you’ll proudly wave your light baton 🔥 to illuminate the cobblestones of the Ville Lumière! It’s therefore a nocturnal challenge waiting for you at the end of November 📆.
To warm up, you’ll have three options: a 10 km on-road road race or a 5 km to be completed in either running or walking 😜. In "sport" mode or just for fun, it won’t be the result that counts, but the joy you’ll feel along the way! You’ll get to enjoy the stunning backdrop offered by this big city featuring no fewer than 56,000 streetlights! 🤯 As a runner, you’ll run along the Seine 🌊, lined with Paris’ iconic monuments: the Invalides, the Pont de l’Alma, the Musée d’Orsay and not to mention the iconic Tour Eiffel! 🤩 If you’d prefer to walk or run a shorter distance, the route will be a bit different, revealing a slew of other wonders 🪄: the Champ de Mars, the Place de la Concorde, the Jardin des Tuileries, the Pont Alexandre III… 🏛️ In short, a concentrated dose of culture and history from the oldest "Ville Lumière"! But by the way, why such a nickname? Well, beyond its tens of thousands of lamps, it’s here that the notion of “public lighting” was born, in 1665! 🤓
Besides a feast for the eyes 😎, you’re taking part in a friendly event and above all a solidarity 🤝. By purchasing your bib you make a direct donation of €10 to the Institut Curie (and receive a tax receipt 💰) and thus join the fight against cancer 😌. Since its creation, the Course des Lumières has raised more than €3 million for various causes, including 1.5 million in Paris in support of the Institut Curie. Because it isn’t only Paris where you can participate! The race also takes place in Lyon and in Toulouse 📍.
