Trail de l'Hyrome

How many ancient strongholds from the Middle Ages do you know? Us, plenty—that’s why we’ll tell you the story of one during a run at Chemillé en Anjou in Maine-et-Loire. Info or hype? Definitely info—the Hyrome is a French river, which is why the race is called the Trail de l'Hyrome. It makes sense! This is your moment to come run in Pays de la Loire for a vividly colorful trail! And yes, for a race in November, expect autumnal scenery with a splash of rain... we hope you’ll get the first option! 🍂

For this trail, the organizers offer five distances with a starting and finishing point identical at Chemillé. If you’re new to trail running, the events of 6 km, 12 km and 16 km will be perfect for you. Prefer to savor the experience longer? Challenge yourself on the 27 km or the 45 km —ideal for testing a bit of elevation. 🤏

We know you’re a tad curious, which is why we’ll tell you more about the course 🧐 (yes, just for you!). You’ll tread the paths and trails of the Val de l'Hyrome to discover the banks of the Hyrome (yes, that’s the famous river!). The banks will grab your attention as they reveal bold characterful places through the towns of Saint Lambert du Lattay, Rablay, Beaulieu-sur-Layon and Chanzeaux (yep, we’ve included them all 😅). You’ll have a blast on the many trails, including several single-tracks in the forest, and also when crossing the vineyards of Anjou. And that’s not all, because to swim in happiness you’ll need to get a bit wet! Among the technical sections of the course, there’s especially the river section where, with the help of a rope 🧗, you’ll progress with water up to your knees. It’s not even a “wade” at this point! You’ll see, it will make your route even more lively, we’re sure you’ll love it!

This race is also charitable! What could be better than having fun and giving your all to support the association Cliniclown that brings joy to hospitalized people. A race with a big heart for a fit athlete! 🤝

And to finish your race in style, wander through the Jardin Camifolia or visit the magnificent Château de la Jumellière—both in Chemillé. As for your aperitif, you might not drink D'hyrome, des femmes ou d'la bière non de dieu, but rather a glass of Coteaux du Layon Tris de Vendanges, a locally sweet white wine accompanied by delicious fouaces! A real treat. 😋
