It’s actually a green path along the coastal river that is the Sèvre Niortaise. This path lets you stroll along the river and discover its secrets in complete tranquility. Beyond this river, you’ll also pass by the jardin des Plantes before reaching the jardins de la Brèche, a landmark of the town highly loved by the Niortais for strolling on sunny days. 🍃
As you may have gathered, there is so much to discover about Niort beyond this race. The city has a donjon, which is the main monument to see and admire 🏰. The Coulée Verte, as we return to it, forms a 53 km loop. It’s perfect for starting all kinds of walks that can continue, even on the water, because the Sèvre is accessible by boat or canoe. 🛶
On the gastronomy side, there is plenty to feast on. Among the local specialties are the cornuelle, the chabichou du Poitou or the caillebotte. And if you need an extra nudge to sign up, know that every participant goes home with a gift. It’s not a legend: Santa Claus comes from the great Niort! 🎅
