We agree, it's not easy to pronounce 😬. The Reschenseelauf is a race tucked away in the far north of Italy, right on the border with Austria. In July, you will run along the shores of Lake Resia, famous for its bell tower standing smack in the middle of the water 🕍. Intriguing, isn’t it? Let us explain! 👇

The Lake Resia looks like a typical mountain lake but with a twist: a long stone silhouette rising from its waters 🏞️. This structure is the bell tower of the Curon village, submerged in 1950 to create a hydroelectric reservoir ⚡️. The residents had to flee, the bells were removed... yet it is said that in winter, when the lake freezes and silence reigns ❄️, some still hear the bell chimes 🔔. Is it the wind? The ghosts of Curon? A mystery... 🫢

And while you ponder this mysterious tale, embark on an unforgettable athletic adventure: a 15.1 km loop around the lake 🔄. The smooth, rolling course is one of the most beautiful in all of the Südtirol. With every stride you pass through forests, alpine meadows and panoramic views 🌞. You might catch sight of the majestic peaks of the Ortler and the Gran Zébrù along the way 🏔️. You’ll start at sunset, at 21:30 at the base of the bell tower in Resia 🌄. If racing isn’t your thing, the Just for Fun category offers the same route but un-timed. You can also complete the route in Nordic walking if you’d rather take it easy and enjoy the scenery 🤗. This event brings everyone together, because the handbikers kick off the festivities 💃. Children aren’t left out! Every year, more than 500 young champions, aged 8 to 16, take on routes suited to their age 💪. And surprises await at the finish line 🤫.

Once you cross the finish line, don’t rush off ✋. The Lake Resia offers so much more than a legendary bell tower. Take a stroll around the lake, climb the Monte di Curon, or uncover the hidden secrets of the Saint Valentin Chapel, a few kilometers away. Feeling sporty? Try kayaking, hiking or windsurfing... This lake is a sports oasis 😍. If you’re more into culture, head to the Reschen Pass and the historic Via Claudia Augusta, a relic from ancient Rome linking Venice to Germany. And let’s not forget, Italy is also famed for its cuisine 🤤. Sit down at a local restaurant and indulge: torta di patata, Burtlêina, Pisarei e fasò... You won’t be disappointed! 🙃
