About this event
In October, the Course des Remparts invites you to Provins (Île-de-France) for a road race at the heart of a medieval town. Two courses are available: 6.3 km loop for sprinters and 18.3 km in three loops for the more enduring, starting on Avenue Alain Peyrefitte and crossing the ramparts, the Durteint watercourse, and the Porte de Jouy before reaching Place du 29e Dragon. A sports and cultural immersion into Provins' UNESCO heritage.
October, with its autumn hues 🍂, is the perfect time to take on the Course des Remparts! The medieval town of Provins welcomes you in Seine-et-Marne, in the Île-de-France region, for a road race through places steeped in history. Still, it’s hard to pass up! 🏰
Head east of Paris for one of the prettiest routes around! Two distances are on offer to discover the jewels of a truly authentic Medieval town that has managed to retain all its charm: 6.3 km for sprinters (one lap) and 18.3 km (three laps) for the more enduring.
This race through the ramparts starts on l’Avenue Alain Peyrefitte. First, you’ll walk under the trees of the boulevard d’Aligre before venturing inside the ramparts. Then you’ll follow the Durteint watercourse to better challenge the steep ramp that leads you to a minor challenge: the “trou au chat” that will make your calves meow a little 🙀. After passing the Porte de Jouyyou’ll run on the cobblestones to reach the Place du Châtel where you can admire the half-timbered houses typical of the town 🏠. And that will be the start of a parade of monuments in Provins High Town : the César Tower, the Grange aux Dîme, the Collegiate Church Saint-Quiriace and the Hôtel Savigny. After passing through another gate, the one at Saint-Jeanyou’ll face the ramparts and Provins’ iconic towers. You’ll have a few nice descents that you’ll need to climb back up or ascents you’ll need to descend, your call 😅. You’ll then slip down along the banks of the Fausse-Rivière (which, however, is very real 💦) before bursting onto Place du 29e Dragon to cross the finish line.
Once your race is over, enjoy Provins even more. Provins. It’s clear that while you’re running you won’t get to discover every nook of this UNESCO-listed World Heritage town and former capital of the Counts of Champagne, this isn’t a small feat. If you’d like to come back with memories as sweet as your treats, we recommend tasting one of the area’s signature specialties: rose confit ! 🌷
