Courses du Lac de Kruth

You’ve probably heard of Belfort, Colmar and Gérardmer, all cities in the Grand Est 📍. And right in the middle of this triangle, in the Haut-Rhin, you’ll find the town of Kruth, our host today! 😁 You’ve got a rendezvous there at the end of the spring 🌸, for the Lac de Kruth-Wildenstein Run 🙌. A pretty road race that takes place around the Lac de Kruth-Wildenstein 🏞️, formed by the watercourse of the Thur, a tributary of the Ill, the main river of Alsace 💦. On the program, two distances of 5 and 10 km in a very natural 🌿. The forest 🌲 and the surrounding hills around the lake blend beautifully here 😌. Kruth is located in the upper Thur valley, at the foot of the peaks of the Markstein (1 266 m) and the Grand Ventron (1 204 m), near the Réserve Naturelle du Massif du Grand Ventron 🍃.

You’ve set the scene, now know you can head off with family, the organizers have also thought of kids with two courses dedicated, one of 750 m and the other of 1 500 m 🧒. Parents, meanwhile, can choose between a 5 km or a 10 km, depending on how you’re feeling 💪. By the way, the 10 km is a qualifying race for the French Championships 🏆, so give it your all to perform ⏱️. Whichever distance you choose, the Lac de Kruth-Wildenstein will be the stage for your strides 🏃. Plus, by registering, you’ll be supporting a good cause 🥰. One euro from each bib goes to the association Vivre avec Parkinson 🎗️.

Castles 🏰, idyllic villages 🏘️, vineyards 🍇 : you’re in the Haut-Rhin, famous for the Vosges mountains ! The neighboring country of Germany 🇩🇪 and Switzerland 🇨🇭 is a top destination for lovers of nature, of culture… and gastronomy 😋. If you decide to travel before or after your race, you’ll have plenty to choose from 🤗. As mentioned above, Colmar, "Little Venice" 🚣. Its old center has been preserved from modernity and seems to have stopped the clocks of time 🕰️. The medieval half-timbered buildings are, of course, unmissable. More industrial, Mulhouse, offers a completely different yet equally interesting face of the region 🤓. Many museums (cars 🚗, trains...) showcase the cultural heritage of the city. Once a citadel-state, the old mining town 🪨 is well worth a visit. Enjoy a small tarte flambée 🍕 in the Vieux-Mulhouse precinct, a great choice for the occasion, naturally paired with a locally brewed beer 🍻.

If you want to dive deeper into discovering the Haut-Rhin, the small Alsatian villages 🥨 are numerous; we can’t name them all… 😬 To avoid offending anyone left out, here are a few suggestions Hunawihr, Riquewihr, Kaysersberg or Eguisheim. Many castles are also scattered across the region 🗺️. Cheese lovers won’t want to miss the Munster 🧀, made exclusively from Vosges cow’s milk 🐄.
