Dive into the heart of Quercy, in Tarn-et-Garonne, with the Bruniquel Origine Trail, an event steeped in history and wild landscapes around the village of Bruniquel and the namesake cave. Choose from two canitrails, two hikes, and six trails, including Cro Magnon (25 km), Neandertal (26 km), and Habilis (39 km with 2,000 m ascent). Between lush valleys, perched castles, and fabulous panoramas, it’s a sporty and memorable immersion.
In the heart of Quercy, in Tarn-et-Garonne, the Bruniquel Origine Trail offers you a very original event connected to Prehistory, in one of the most beautiful villages in France where the Grotte des Pouxets. In February, with chilly temperatures, it’s the perfect moment to show what you’re made of!
You can’t miss mammoth-sized fun, because the organizers go big to make sure you have a blast! You’ll have a choice between two canitrails, two hikes or even six trails, that’s right! And as they’re full of humor, all of their races are named after old-times that bring back memories from our primary school history lessons. You’ll especially be able to take part in the hike Cro Magnon of 25 km, the trail Neandertal of 26 km or even the trail Habilis of 39 km and its 2 000 mD+! Okay, before the start, let’s call the roll: Pierre? Present. Pierre? Present. And without forgetting G... No, Gu.... No, Gy... GUY !
The routes of this Bruniquel trail are always varied, technical, and athletic. Indeed, it’s demanding, but with the castles of Bruniquel perched on a rocky spur overlooking the valleys of the Vère and the Aveyron, the Grotte de Bruniquel and numerous breathtaking panoramas make it totally worth pushing your limits!
After your journey through Occitan land, take time to learn more about the Grotte de Bruniquel, this is where the world’s oldest evidence of Neanderthals living in a deep underground setting is found. The village itself, at the edge of the Bas-Quercy and the Grésigne forest massif, are an exceptional site, just steps from the gorges of the Aveyron.
For gastronomy, we highly recommend coming to feast on a banquet filled with cassoulet, unless the boudin galabart tempts you, as does the bougnette or the pescajoune. Of course, the best is to taste everything!
