Runner's World a classé le Dava Way 50 km parmi les meilleurs ultras à faire au Royaume-Uni ! Le Dava Way est la course parfaite pour passer du marathon à l'ultra, ou si tu es un coureur ultra expérimenté à la recherche d'un 50 km rapide.
Ce parcours relie les villes historiques de Grantown-on-Spey et Forres, et se termine par un détour sympa à travers les endroits préférés du directeur de course quand il était gamin, pour finir les 50 km. Le parcours suit principalement l'ancienne ligne de chemin de fer des Highlands, offrant un sentier hors route mais praticable.
Le parcours plat monte jusqu'au sommet de Dava (320 mètres), ce qui rend les choses intéressantes, avant de redescendre jusqu'au niveau de la mer. Avec son mélange de bois, de landes et de chemins agricoles, le Dava Way est l'un des trésors cachés de l'Écosse !
Parmi les points forts, on peut citer : - Le viaduc de Divie, emblème du sentier, sauvé de la démolition par Lord Laing - Huntly's Cove, une gorge où le deuxième marquis de Huntly s'est réfugié en 1645
- Le sommet de Dava, à 321 m, avec une réplique du panneau d'origine - Le Breathing Place à DunphaiI, un endroit où s'arrêter, pique-niquer et profiter de la nature, près du viaduc - La Halfway Hut, restaurée en refuge et aire de pique-nique (avec panneaux solaires) - Deux sculptures en bois : un dragon près du sommet et un chien colley qui servait autrefois à transmettre des messages
