Born in 2021, this event proves by its longevity and the energy it creates that demand is strong in France. This discipline, born in Japan 🇯🇵, is indeed not widespread in the world of running. Wonder why! It’s nevertheless highly appreciated 😇. And if you’re reading this, it means you’re eager to face the opposing teams with your teammates during this event to be held in Roissy-en-France, in the Val-d'Oise, in Île-de-France, in the month of April next. But before telling you about the event, let us first remind you of the principle of an Ekiden. It’s simple: you run the equivalent of a marathon (42.195 km) in a six-person relay race team of six relayers 🥳. Note that teams for mixed-gender groups must have a minimum of 3 women 🚺. The winning team is simply the one that crosses the distance first. However, not all relayers run the same distance. So be sure to place your teammates in the right spots! 🏃 The sequence is as follows: the first relay runner will run 5 km, the second 10 km, the third 5 km, the fourth 10, the fifth 5 and the last 7.195 km. There you go, and if you like the concept, we’re sure that the unique setting will appeal just as much! Located in the golf International de Roissy golf, just steps from Roissy Airport, the course will take you through a (small) portion of the 90 hectares of the course🌳. You’ll then enjoy the gently rolling green hills, the lakes and the perfectly kept, lush, soft turf that stretches as far as the eye can see 🥰. You’ll agree that the race conditions are ideal! And there you think “yes, but it’s a pity I don’t know golf well enough to enjoy it and swing a little”. No problem, Étienne! A golf initiation is offered to participants of the Ekiden 🏌️‍♂️.
