Ekiden du Platal

To keep riding their great momentum, the Bureau des Sports de Télécom Paris, they continue their biggest event: l’Ekiden du Platal 🌟. And where there’s Ekiden, there’s a race with fewer problems. Well, that rhymes, but is it true, we don’t know… 😵‍💫 What we do know is that to verify if our adage holds true, as a student or staff of the schools, they’re counting on you 🫵. This race is perfectly timed as we start to feel summer coming and especially the summer holidays, so the event nicely punctuates this May 💐. We only ask you for two things, like little homework tasks, but promise it won’t be graded. In advance, you’ll need to assemble a team of 6 people, to run this relay smoothly 😃. If you miscalculate your group composition again, that won’t be a platalité, you’ll make it up in post-race ! 😉 Second thing: prepare a great costume, it could be even more fun! 🧙‍♀️

This time, you’ll have 42,195 km, to run, right on the plateau de Saclay. You’re kidding? 🤨 Don’t panic, we remind you that you’ll be in a team of 6, so this mythical marathon distance will be divided by 6. Yet another calculation, it’s starting to be quite a lot of work… The complaints are over, the order is already set! 😃 The sequence will be: 5 km, 10 km, 5 km, 10 km, 5 km and since the calculations are right, the last one will be: 7.2 km. You’ll quickly notice distances aren’t all even, so perhaps a rock-paper-scissors will work well to break ties ✂️. Okay, running a marathon is still quite the challenge. So a novelty for this year, a shorter format is offered: the “Baby Ekiden” 👌. Always with a team of 6 runners, the distances will be 2.5 km for 4 of you and 5 km for the remaining 2! Result : each has their moment, everyone has their role, and the team advances as one block, without you feeling like you’re heading to the other side of the world 🙄.

Honestly, let’s be real, students love sports and… The party ? That’s surely the right answer and they’ve got it 😎, so once everyone has thoroughly wiped off and given their all in the race, it’s time to feast. On the agenda, a prize distribution (watch who you’ve in the team, they’ll be shared 🤣), a sports village with lots of activities (sports challenges, VR booth, bouncy castles and ecological awareness) and of course, a great party 🎉. Imagine, a maxi student party, mixing many different schools after a beautiful sports day. Now that’s a REAL Thursday evening! 🥂

And still, don’t forget the environment you’ll be running in. All loops: from 2.5 km to 10 km, will be near the Lac de l’X , located north of Essonne, in the Plateau de Saclay 🌳. This space is a very important hub for the development of the Grand Paris. Today, it’s a protected natural, agricultural and forest area area of great importance ‼️ This space is also a huge scientific and academic hub. In short, it’s a bit like the Silicon Valley of France! 🇫🇷 You’ll find agricultural spaces, modern buildings and areas in development. And obviously, you’ll be just south of Paris, so for the party lovers, why not extend the celebration 🍾. What better than organizing a nice weekend in the capital, to spend a few days strolling the Parisian streets ? 🥖
