Les Foulées de Mulsanne

You know the 24 Hours of Le Mans ⏱️, the rillettes of Le Mans, the cathedral ✝️, but are you familiar with the Foulées de Mulsanne, this autumn gathering of running fans? 🏃 The department of the Sarthe hosts many renowned sporting events 🗓️. The Foulées de Mulsanne take you on a discovery of the famous Le Mans circuit 🏎️, Mulsanne being a town near the Bugatti Circuit, the permanent part of the famous motorsport route 🛣️.

Three road races of 5 km, 10 km and 21.1 km are offered for the occasion. The organizers have thought of all audiences! That’s why they created a 1.3 km, accessible to all ages, even the smallest ones 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦. This event is above all about sharing the values of sport and community, with a friendly and festive spirit, which is essential for this event! You’ll even be able to run the 5 km in pairs in mixed format 🧑‍🤝‍🧑. And to keep everyone in the loop, even the most competitive 🏅 runners, the Foulées de Mulsanne half marathon is qualifying for the French Championships! 🏆

The Sarthe department in the Pays de la Loire region isn’t a must-see for travelers, but it’s a wonderfully rich and pleasant area 🤗. Its prefecture, Le Mans, a city labeled “City of Art and History”, features a very beautiful old town, named Cité Plantagenêt, one of the west’s loveliest districts 😍. Its historical heritage is very dense; you won’t be disappointed walking on its ancient cobblestones from the era. Its gallo-roman enclosure is a must-see 🏛️. The Vieux Mans hasn’t opened its lanes to big brands 🤓. It remains “as is” and many small shops 🛍️ and restaurants add charm to this historic area 🥰. A number of films shot here. The Cathedral of Le Mans, a mix of Gothic and Romanesque architecture, was recently voted the Most beautiful cathedral in France 🥇.

Further north in the department, welcome to the Alpes Mancelles (really) ⛰️, a small natural gem structured around the Saint-Cénéri-le-Gérei, an artists’ village and Saint-Léonard-des-Bois 🎨. The Abbey of Saint-Cécile de Solesmes ⛪ sits by the Sarthe river 💦, near Sablé-sur-Sarthe. In the south of the department, near the Touraine, the Château du Lude 🏰 is the perfect place to visit.

If you have a bit more time and want to treat the kids, why not explore the Nature Arch (and not the Noah’s Ark 🦒) near the Abbey of L'Épau in the Mance area. Many animals live here and will delight the whole family 🐾. After the walk, how about a small glass of wine from Jasnières, Sarthe white wine with a refined taste? 🍷
