Back in the day, many years ago… 🕥

We are on September 4, 1889, "Count Valery" lands at the Île-Rousse coming from England. He brings with him the ashes of the General Paoli 🪖 to lay them to his homeland, Morosaglia 📍. One hundred years later, in 1989, the association "A Paolina" is born to commemorate the ash return of Pascal Paoli to the country by creating a town from town, specifically dedicated to the general.

So, are you ready to experience a unique experience in a breathtaking setting? 😏 We'll meet at the end of September (the perfect season for running) to kick off an iconic road race, with a trail vibe! It's time for 70 km on the ashes of the General Paoli, starting from Île-Rousse 🏝️, the famous resort town of Haute-Corse. One distance only, one route only for 4 different races (these Corsicans are unstoppable!). Your choice: do you want to be alone or with someone among 1, 3 or 7 friends (if you manage to gather that many 😅). Because yes, besides the individual challenge, organizers offer you three relay formats to tackle at 2, 4 or 8. Want to feel like Raymond Poulidor and become the king of the pedals? 🚴 No problem: "Poupou", a Run & Bike, is also open, in teams of 2 and still on the same course. Not the same format, but the same path! 😉

Île Rousse - Morosaglia, let's go for this road-trail made in Corsica! 😍 You'll start early by the sea side 🌊 and traverse the island all day for a finish in the heart of the Corsica! Your race will start at the port of the Île-Rousse, and more precisely at the Île de la Pietra. You'll cross the city and run along the coast a bit. Don’t celebrate too early — the challenges come quickly on the winding roads and the stunning nature of the island of beauty 🥰. Belgodère, Castifao, Moltifao, Ponte-Leccia... You’ll see, the beauty of these towns will make you "almost" forget the difficulty of the course 😁. Yes indeed! If the scenery is not less exceptional, it’s a chain of climbs 📈 and descents 📉 awaiting you for a total of 1 790 mD+ and no less than 917 mD-. So yes, you’re going to struggle 😅, and not only when you see the stunning panoramas around you. For a rough idea, you start at level 0 (sea level) and reach almost 860 m above sea level in the village of Morosaglia 🏃‍♂️🥵.

Once you cross the finish line, you’ll get to fully enjoy the festive and friendly atmosphere 🥳. Review your Corsican classics — you’ll need them to join in the chants that will echo all the way to the continent! 🎶 Nothing better to recover than the local gastronomy 🤤 : chestnuts, Canistrelli or even charcuterie and typical cheeses 🧀 will delight your taste buds 🧑‍🍳. To quench your thirst, we suggest Pietra 🍺 or the local liqueur, ratafia 🥃. While you’re there, take the time to explore this historic village full of stories, visiting the museum dedicated to General Paoli, in his birthplace home 🏠. Then sit back and take a moment to enjoy the view of the mountains ⛰️ and the surrounding nature 🍃, you’re in for a treat! 😋
