About this event
A new episode of the XRUN series takes runners into the wild zones of Beskid Wyspowy, near Słopnice and the Mogielica massif, in the surroundings of Dobczyce (PL). The route crosses dense forests and less-traveled trails, with possible muddy trail conditions in rain and “mounds” to conquer before the finish. After the race, discover the panoramas of the area and end with relaxing moments in Limanowa or near the Słopnicki stream.
A new episode of the XRUN series, this time taking runners to a slightly more mysterious and wild area of the Beskid Wyspowy – around the vicinity of Słopnice and the Mogielica range. The name The Mysterious Mounds isn’t accidental: the route snakes through heights with ancient stories, and the “mounds” themselves are distinctive points of terrain to conquer before you can reach the finish line.
Unlike the more “panoramic” races, The Mysterious Mounds often pass through dense forests and less-traveled trails. If it rains, get ready for real trail mud, making grip the central theme of the race. 💩👟
After solving the mystery of the Mysterious Mounds and collecting your medal, Dobczyce and the Limanowa area are excellent places to “re-enter the world”:
Observation Tower on Mogielica: If, after the race, your legs still want to cooperate, this is the absolute top pick. From the new tower there’s a view over the Tatras, the Gorce and the Beskid Sądecki. It’s the perfect spot for a souvenir photo with the medal. 🔭📸
Relax by the Słopnicki Creek: Nothing helps tired feet like cryotherapy in a cold mountain stream. Find a safe access to the water and give your muscles a natural moment of rest. 🌊🧊
Limanowa and the basilica: A few kilometers from Dobczyce lies Limanowa. A stroll through the town square and a visit to the monumental Basilica of Our Lady of Sorrows make for a good option to recover quietly, in an urban yet peaceful setting. ⛪🏙️
Restaurants with regional cuisine: In this area, it’s worth choosing genuine recovery. The sourdough kwaśnica on spoons or the “brigand-style” flatbreads are dishes that taste best in the Beskides and fuel the journey home. 🥘🥩
