Le Joust propose une formidable épreuve d’endurance aux coureurs de trail, organisée sur des terres agricoles privées dans le Worcestershire, au Royaume-Uni. Les athlètes s’attaquent à une boucle relativement plate et bien balisée d’environ 5,6 miles, le parcours étant légèrement modifié chaque année en fonction du terrain. Les participants ont le choix entre des formats de course de 24 heures, 12 heures ou 6 heures. Pour l’épreuve de 24 heures, des formules en solo et en équipe sont proposées : vous pouvez concourir individuellement ou au sein d’une équipe composée de 2, 3 à 5 ou 6 à 8 coureurs.
Le défi de 12 heures est une épreuve en solo dont l'objectif est d'atteindre la distance de 50 miles ; une fois cet objectif atteint, votre course prend fin. Pour un test plus rapide, la course en solo de 6 heures encourage les coureurs à repousser leurs limites et à voir jusqu'où ils peuvent aller dans le temps imparti.
Les athlètes d'endurance chevronnés peuvent tenter de remporter la très convoitée « Joust Buckle » en atteignant des objectifs de distance clés : les coureurs en solo ou en équipe individuelle qui parcourent 100 miles ou plus, et les équipes qui franchissent la barre des 200 miles. L'événement propose également une course pour les jeunes, offrant ainsi aux athlètes de tous âges l'occasion de découvrir le défi et l'esprit de camaraderie propres à l'ultra-trail.
