The Krakow Independence Run gathers thousands of runners dressed in white and red every November 11 in the streets of Krakow for a living national flag. Beyond the classic 10-kilometer course, the event also offers shorter races and Nordic Walking walks, with start and finish at the Błonia, amid residents’ applause and the anthem before the start. After the effort, Krakow offers the Royal Wawel Castle and the Drapers’ Hall for a patriotic and festive day in the old Polish capital.
Cracow Independence Run is one of the largest and most solemn running events in Lesser Poland. Every year, on November 11, thousands of runners dressed in white and red shirts form an incredible living national flag that sweeps through the streets of Poland’s former capital.
The main distance here is the classic, fast 10-kilometer course, although the event is often accompanied by shorter races (such as the Independence Mile) as well as Nordic Walking walks depending on the edition. The start and finish near the Kraków Błonia guarantee a tremendous amount of encouragement from gathered locals, and singing the anthem before the start always gives participants goosebumps!

The Wawel Royal Castle: Running in its shadow is an honor, but a stroll through the courtyard and a moment of contemplation in the crypts provide the perfect complement to the day's patriotic spirit. The view of the winding Vistula from the castle walls never fails to impress 🏰.
November Market Square: After the race, it’s worth heading to the Cloth Hall. The city hums with official celebrations, patriotic songs fill the air, and the atmosphere is solemn yet joyful 🔔.
St. Martin’s croissants and hot chocolate: While these croissants are mostly associated with Poznań, Kraków’s pastries on November 11 also crumble under the weight of these treats. A generous portion of white poppy seeds and icing is the best legal recovery boost! 🥐☕
