At the gates of Frankfurt, in the state of Hesse, thousands of amateur cyclists flood every year onto the roads usually reserved for pros for the ADAC Velotour 🚴. This event is an integral part of the Radklassiker Eschborn-Frankfurt, one of Germany's oldest classic cycling races 🇩🇪. Early May weather often rides the line: pack a light jacket for the early start, the spring sunshine should quickly take over later in the morning ☀️. The route takes you from Eschborn, a quiet business town with a storied sports past, to the heart of Frankfurt and its skyline that rivals Manhattan 🏙️. You’ll string together long, rolling miles in the city center before gradually venturing into the Taunus massif 📈, with dense forests 🌲, winding paths, and sections that punish any slackening 🥵. The centerpiece, reserved for the longest course, is the dreaded Mammolshainer Stich : a final pull that wakes even the most seasoned cyclists, just as the legs start to burn 😅. Between false flats rolling and dry ramps, the program alternates pure joy and bursts of power in the calves, never giving you a dull moment 🤪.
