Trail en Côte-Rôtie

For this new edition of the Trail en Côte-Rôtie, we’re taking you to explore the vineyards 🍇 of one of the most exceptional crus in our heritage: the Côte-Rôtie in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region 🇫🇷.

But before tasting in the literal sense 😋, you’ll do it figuratively by conquering the elevations of the surrounding vineyards in the beautiful colors of autumn in October 🍂. To help you, there are several routes tailored to different abilities 😌. We start easy with 2 hikes of about 10 km and 15 km. Here come the main attractions: the 3 trails. The first is a 13 km renowned "La Verticale" with its 600 mD+. Then there’s the "La Brune and the Blonde" at 25 km and 1 200 mD+, making a great pair 👯. "L'AOC", closes this trio, on a route of 46 km and 2 500 mD+ 📈. This last distance can even be done as a duo, or in relay! 🔗 Two people is usually more fun, so it's up to you to decide if you’d rather run the whole race with your duo or simply cross paths with them 🤪. Nobody is left out, so kids 👶 can also try one of the 4 races planned especially for them: "Les Millésimes" ! So small or large, beginner or expert

L et yourself be carried away by one of the 5 routes laid out for you from Ampuis to zigzag between the plots of the Syrah grape variety and discover the two slopes of the appellation: La Côte Brune 🖤 and La Côte Blonde 💛. For a bit of history, it’s the Lord Maugiron 👑 who shared his domain between his two daughters, one blonde and the other brunette. That way, no one envies anyone! So will you be able to tell them apart when you taste? 🤔 And yes, because you’ll then be able to plan visits to the cellars in the area to discover local riches during tastings offered by the winemakers 🤤. To be enjoyed in moderation, obviously ! Or at least, have a well-filled belly 🤰🏻. And speaking of which, you’ll find that the organizers have thought of everything, with a whole village of exhibitors where you’ll find foodtrucks 🚚 to fuel up all day 🍽. And after the events (physical and digestive), you might have time to visit Vienne, the nearby town, and enjoy its unique Gallo-Roman heritage ⚔️.

This is something you’ll hear repeatedly: these races are a chance to push yourself in an unconventional setting 🌿 while offering fun activities, gastronomyculture and exciting experiences all weekend 🥰. You can crown your efforts with a wine that’s won multiple awards and is over 2 000 years 😮. Not into wine? No problem! You’ll surely enjoy visiting one of the region’s historical monuments, from the Saint-Baudille church in Ampuis ⛪️, which houses the relics of the patron saint of winemakers, to the Musée Saint-Pierre 🖼️ in Vienne, the “City of Art and History.” And if you love the vibe, you can always come back in January to visit the wine market of Ampuis ! 🏪
