Between lake and sea in Hourtin, in Gironde, experience the HourCancilloise, the largest Bike & Run in France, held over an outdoor weekend. With 8 varied events, the program blends road, trail and MTB, from the half marathon and 10 km to the Grand/Petit Trail and the HourCancilloise Full (57 km) or Light (22 km) formats. The spectacular setting of Lac d’Hourtin and the preserved nature of the Médoc offer an ideal backdrop just a few kilometers from Bordeaux.
You missed the happy hour ? 🍻 Don't panic, you can still grab your bib for the happy HourCancilloise ! 😝 It's at Hourtin, in Gironde, where the biggest Bike & Run in France will take place 💥. In April, you’ll find yourself in the heart of a wild and pristine nature, between lakefront and seafront! Just a short ride from Bordeaux, you’ll take part in a real outdoor sports festival that will keep you busy all weekend 🗓️. Yes indeed, with 8 different events, there’s something for everyone to enjoy your race! 😌 On Saturday, road runners and trail runners will be celebrated while on Sunday, cyclists and their team will be in the spotlight 💪.
By the way, in terms of distances, how will you like your aperitif served? 🤔 Well, one thing’s for sure: you won’t be short of choices! 📖 On the menu, you’ll have: a half-marathon as the main course 🏃➡️, a 10 km for dessert and a hike to digest it all 🥾. If you arrive late for dinner ⌚, you can still head out at night for the "Grand Trail" of 20 km or the "Petit Trail" of 11 km. For the following day’s meal, we offer some composed salads for two people 🧑🤝🧑, fairly hearty 🥗: a "HourCancilloise Full" of 57 km, a "HourCancilloise Light" of 22 km or the "Super Light" of 8 km for the little players! 🍽️ We forgot to mention that one of the two diners must be on a bike (that adds a bit of spice 🌶️). To enjoy all this, you’ll get a spectacular setting: Lake Hourtin, the largest natural freshwater lake in the country! 🏞️ Nestled in the heart of the Médoc (we’re not talking about medicine here 👀), you’ll have no trouble finding side dishes for your royal meal 👑.
Between Maubuisson and Carcans Plage, the Atlantic Coast and the Hourtin Nature Reserve of Dunes and Marsh, you’ll be spoiled! 😋 You’ll be able to relish the best sunsets over the ocean 🌅 and snap a shot 🔦 on the farlighthouse Breton Cordouan, nicknamed the "Sea Versailles" 🧜♀️. If, during a post-ride stroll, you happen to wander into one of the many Bordeaux wine estates 🍇, that only calls for a tasting of the finest wines (even if you prefer your meat well done) 🍷. Think the menu lacks shellfish? 🦪 Then you can easily go harvest them on the Atlantic beaches 🌊.
