You’re about to run through the streets of Fresnay-sur-Sarthe, a petite town of character located in the northeast of Pays de la Loire. This urban trail in Sarthe (you guessed it) takes place mid-February, so no fuss, for forgetting your worries and coming to have fun, bundle up like never before and discover the friendly adventure of this Fresnay race. 🤗
A stone’s throw from the Alpes Mancelles, well known by local trail runners, you’ll have to choose between two courses—or rather two distances: 5 km or 10 km. Indeed, the course is a 5 km loop to complete once or twice, but it’s not about the count when such a beautiful landscape is on offer 👀. The second village favourite of the French (that’s Stéphane Bern who said it) welcomes you for an authentic, family-friendly and unifying experience around sport values, sign up!
It’s great to want to reserve your bib, but you probably want to know where you’ll be putting your feet, right? We’ll tease the course of your urban trail to whet your appetite or make your sweat break out, your call 🤣. In this remarkable village, you won’t miss the medieval château of Fresnay-sur-Sarthe you’ll encounter during your epic. Like a true medieval knight, you’ll set off to conquer the splendid streets of the town and follow along the Sarthe River. But that’s not all, the climb of the Coteau des Vignes will give you a sense of a mountain-hike ascent. How lucky to be able to run in a vineyard-flanked landscape (almost like mountains, let's not overdo it) 🍇 ! Up top, you’ll discover a plateau inhabited by local stars (we’re talking sheep and other regional animals of course) 😅. That’s a true melting pot that’ll blow you away!
That’s not all—organizers want this event to be a real festive and friendly gathering! So, once the race is over, competitors can come together over delicious crepes and hot wine (always in moderation, you know our values 😉).
After a little relaxing session, comfortably seated in your cinema chair, we suggest, if you haven’t already seen it, to visit the Museum of the Headdress. Then, as happy hour approaches, savor the delicious local rillettes accompanied by wine from the Coteau des Vignes, if you can get some, of course. 🍷
