This race, created by the associations Artistes Sportifs de Cœur and LHF Espoir, VK Sports Evènement and the Town of Saint-Bonnet-Près-Riom, support families touched by the rare LHF disease 🧬 and fundraising to advance medical research on this rare disease 😷. Yes, you heard right, by grabbing your bib you’re running a charity race for rare diseases! 🥰
LHF Espoir is a parents’ association that contributes to the fight against the disease of Lymphohistiocytosis Haemophagocytic Familial (LHF). The event takes place on the occasion of the International Day of Rare Diseases which takes place at the end of February! ☝️ This is no accident that the race also happens at that time 🗓️.
But what should you expect on this day? 👀 3 races are organized: a non-timed 5 km walk, a 10 km run and a 15 km! 🏃➡️ As you may have noticed, these distances are accessible to all, making La Brayaude de l'Espoir a friendly and welcoming event 😍. The courses are in the countryside, but no risk of slipping in mud! 😉 You’ll also get to test your new shoes for the rest of the season 😝. And if you’d rather experience the event as a family, that works well because the walk is open to everyone, it’s the perfect time to bring the kids! 👨👩👧👦
After the race, take the time to explore the surroundings! You can head to the Chaîne des Puys ⛰️ for a spectacular hike (if your legs can still handle it 😅) in the heart of nature 🌄. If you’re more into culture, visit the majestic Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption Cathedral in Clermont-Ferrand 🏰, just an hour’s drive away. To please the whole crew, head to the Vulcania, the theme park dedicated to volcanoes 🌋.
