Fest'Trail Causses & Rougier

Tired of seeing the same landscapes over and over 😪? Great news: Fest'trail Causses et Rougier takes you to Aveyron, a region that's off the beaten path but absolutely stunning!

The organizers haven’t been idle and offer you 5 different routes : The prologue takes us from the square of Saint-Affrique Town Hall 🏫 to the summit of the Rocher de Caylus ⛰️, before descending to this charming village. With nearly 300mD+, the climb looks tough but the view from up there is worth it! 🌄

After a good night’s rest, you can tackle the 8 or 15 km of La Draille : it starts at Montaigut Castle 🏰 . This 10th-century building overlooks the Rougier valley, which gives the race its name. To make a splash in the evening, know that this Rougier is the largest in Europe. It’s the perfect spot to admire the unique red sandstone of the Aveyron mountains with its Romeo 💘! The race continues toward Vandeloves, before climbing back to the mas of Rouby and returning to Saint-Affrique. Note that this route can be done as a hike, ideal for taking in the scenery without rushing! 15 km, which is too little for some. That’s why the Montaigut and the Cardabelle offer respectively 30 and 48 km of challenge between Montaigut and Saint Affrique. Reserved for the bravest, with nearly 2300mD+ 😱 !

Once you’ve burned through all these calories, don’t hesitate to refuel by trying the Aveyronnaise specialties: the organizers have lined up a variety of food trucks with great local products to fill you up. During the race, refueling will be provided by race partners: the Biocoop and local market gardeners! If you extend your stay in the area, don’t hesitate to complete your Aveyronnaise gastronomic experience: fish lovers will adore the estofinado 🐟, a dish of cod, potatoes 🥔 and eggs 🍳. Sweet tooths will rush to the fouacea crown-shaped brioche scented with orange blossom 🥧. All this will fuel you up! You’ll get to enjoy the movie-night the organizers have planned for you between the two race days. 🎥
