Trail Perché de Calvignac

The daily grind can drive you completely crazy 🤯. If you’re feeling totally crazy, it’s time to take a break and come run at the Trail Perché de Calvignac! For this fourth edition, the small town of the Lot invites you to discover the wonderful landscapes of the Lot Valley through 3 trails of 8 km, of 15 km and of 26 km 😎. Paths for all levels

However, the routes will feature a fairly steep elevation gain 💪. 800 mD+ on the 26 km, 500 mD+ on the 15 km and 350 mD+ on the 8 km… Your calves will have plenty to gnash at 😬. It’s no accident that two of the events at the Trail Perché de Calvignac are part of the ADCPHS Challenge from Lot: the 26 km in the long challenge and the 8 km in the short challenge! 😁 This shows the quality of the course but also encourages you to explore the Lot region 📍 by completing all trails in the challenge! 🤗 But let’s get back to our sheep routes 😅. The great strength of this race is the unmatched view it offers of the Causses du Quercy 🏞️, given that Calvignac sits on the edge of a cliff ⛰️. The course is designed so you never get bored 😊. Regardless of which route you choose, you’ll pass through trails, fields, streams and rocky paths 🪨. The organizers, who are sport-loving volunteers 🏃, aim to show you their hidden village and offer you a breath of fresh air 🌬️, while you push yourself 🥵. Thus, the different races will pass through all the hamlets 🏘️ that make up the commune, giving you a complete panorama 😯. After all these kilometers, the organizers will treat you to a hearty meal 😋 featuring local products to recover from your efforts. You’ll be able to sample delicious grilled meats, or the cabécou, a local goat cheese 🐐 in a convivial atmosphere 🥳. The products you’ll taste will be 100% from the local terroir ! 👨‍🌾

Two curiosities will catch your eye during the race 🤔. Near the start line, you won’t miss the Baume Rock : it’s simply the rocky massif 🏔️ on which the village sits, and it’s what lets you gaze at the river from that height ⬆️. In this regard, Calvignac was during the Middle Ages a fortified town ⚔️, and many vestiges of that era are still visible today 🏚️. The most important (the one you’ll cross during your race) is the Castle of Cénevières 🏰. Located on the edge of the Lot, this fortress built at the beginning of the Middle Ages 🐴, was owned by the Marquisate of La Tour du Pin 🌲, who ceded it to the revolutionary Louis Narissart, when the monarchy 👑 collapsed. More than 200 years later, it’s still the descendants of Narissart who maintain it and offer guided tours 🎫 for château enthusiasts. If you prefer prehistory 🦣, the Pech Merle cave, about ten kilometers away, is also very interesting to explore 🧗.
