Are you looking for a race in natural surroundings with stunning views in New Aquitaine 🧐? The Blueberries Trail, which takes place at the beginning of May, is exactly what you need ✅! You’ll be swept away by the surrounding landscapes of Chaumeil, a small commune in Corrèze (19). Plunged into the Parc Naturel Régional de Millevaches, you’ll embark on an expedition across the Massif des Monédières, a granite mountain range in the Limousin region and a Natura 2000 site. ⛰

For your excursion, several options are available. On one hand, trail routes with varying elevation: 6 km, 12 km, 21 km or 55 km with 2100 mD+ for the latter! On the other hand, mountain bike routes for two-wheel enthusiasts on the same principle: 15 km, 30 km, 45 km or 60 km with 1600 mD+ for the last. You’ll traverse the ferme de la Monédière, the last wild blueberry producer on the plateau (hence the race name 😉). Depending on your event choice, you’ll explore heather and blueberry moorlands and climb various puys: le puy d’Agnoux (811 m), le puy Charrin (869 m) or le puy de Chauzeix (893 m).

A few lucky folks will get to immerse themselves in the heart of the Freysselines Cirque, a sanctuary of moorland (dense low-lying vegetation) and a plant-rich area of exceptional diversity (ferns, heathers, blueberries, and raspberries). Expect a somewhat rugged course, with dry ascents and technical paths that will require some significant effort. But don’t worry: you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views of the Massif des Monédières and its vast conifer forests, as well as metamorphic rocks 🤩. In short, a race that will blow your mind, and probably your legs too! 🥵

To unwind a little longer, treat yourself to some Corrèze specialties such as the tempting flognarde with apples (a variation of clafoutis) or millassou (potato pancake) if you prefer savory over sweet! 😋
