About this event
Connect the mountains to the beaches with the 100 Miles South of France, a trail adventure starting from Font-Romeu and finishing in Argelès-sur-Mer. Three distances on the program: 80 km, 120 km and 170 km (100 miles), with a start at over 1800 m elevation in the Parc Naturel Régional des Pyrénées Catalanes. In October, breathtaking landscapes and a relay option for those who prefer to share the effort.
Gear up for a journey that will connect the mountains to the sea. The 100 Miles South of France isn’t just a race, it’s an adventure. It takes place between Font-Romeu and Argelès-sur-Mer in the Pyrénées-Orientales in October, under a sun and heat that linger for this trail in Occitanie. A unique rendezvous!
Three distances are on the program to take you from the Font-Romeu mountain to the Argelès-sur-Mer sea. An 80 km, a 120 km and the famous 100 miles which correspond to a 170 km. The distance changes but the mission stays the same: reach the sea starting from the mountains! The start of the 100 miles will be given at over 1800 m of altitude in the heart of the Parc Naturel Régional des Pyrénées Catalanes, the ultimate luxury! The level is high, but good news: if the distances scare you, you can do the routes in relay. The rendezvous is so exciting and with breathtaking landscapes that will make it easy to convince a loved one!
"The crossing" of 80 km starts at Arles-Sur-Tech. The rest is a vertigo-inducing climb to the Col de Parasols followed by a passage through Montalba and through the hamlet Las Illas. You’ll even run a short stretch of Spain 🇪🇸 (y vivaaaa españa !). You’ll then leave the Perthus (for cheap races, we’ll pass 😉 ) to head toward the Albères and all the way to Argelès-sur-Mer. "The great crossing " of 120km is an even tougher challenge. You’ll start from Vernet-les-Bains before ramping up to a steep climb toward the refuge des Cortalets at 2100 m while passing through the Canigou foothills and through the Vallespir before venturing into the Albères Einstein. But if you’ve truly prepared to cover the queen distance and line up with the 100 miles, you’ll truly experience something extraordinary! After an alpine start, you’ll cross the Pyrénées-Orientales on 170 km with an elevation gain of up to 8 000 m 🥵. For this, you’ve got to have a hot-blooded spirit! You’ll also traverse, like the other distances, the Albères chain Camus to reach near the Catalan coastal marine reserve. That’s where you’ll finally touch the sand of the Argelès-sur-Mer beaches. An epic 170 km journey to link the Catalan mountains to the beach.
At the end of the race, don’t hesitate to go admire, this time peacefully, the Parc Naturel des Pyrénées Catalanes simply to enjoy the place without pressure or a clock. Or was it more the playa part that made your mouth water and in that case you can head to Argelès-Plage, even in October you’ll find plenty!
