Start at the Vizille domain and tackle the complete Belledonne trail with L'Échappée Belle, the iconic weekend event in August. Four distances follow one another, from 21 km and 2,000 mD+ to the imposing Traversée Nord and the full 149 km and 11,400 mD+. The course crosses the Belledonne range up to Savoie, while staying eco-friendly and crossing Natura 2000 zones and the Luitel nature reserve.
You, runner with steel lungs and concrete legs, think you can climb every peak? 🦿Are you sure? Then grab a bib for The Beautiful Escape! The organizers of this Belledonne trail in Isère, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, offer you even more than roller coasters! 🎢
Four distances are on offer with different start and finish points. We start easy with the loop of The Sky Race of Rocher Blanc, 21 km and 2,000 mD+, start and finish at Fond de France. Then the 62 km of the Crêtes Course, start at Allevard and finish at Aiguebelle after 4,700mD+. It starts to sting with the Nord Crossing, 6,140 mD+ over 84 km with start at Fond de France and finish at Aiguebelle. And finally the incredible, the monstrous The Beautiful Escape, the 149 km full distance with a total of 11,400 mD+!!! 😨 No typo, I swear! All this elevation almost made us forget to give you the essential info: start from the Domaine de Vizille and finish at Aiguebelle. Oh yes, it will be in August over a full weekend, hot weather expected even though it's in a mountainous area. 🥵
The Echappée Belle trail is a true adventure just a stone's throw from Grenoble, in a richly environmental and mountainous area. You will cross the entire Belledonne range, otherwise known as the crystalline chain of the Alps, up into Savoie with breathtaking views of the snowy peaks. 🏔 From summit to summit and refuge to refuge, you will discover about thirty alpine lakes, panoramic ridges, forests, glaciers and refuges (careful with the bubbles, we recommend after the effort...). Additionally, it’s 90% single-track on steep trails with the crossing of 15 cols above 2,000 m altitude for the full distance. 🤯 Also good to know, the organization aims to be eco-responsible because you pass through two Natura 2000 zones and the Luitel natural reserve. Thanks to this environmental focus, you may encounter ibexes and chamois. 🐐
Because you need to recharge to run better, enjoy the gratin dauphinois, the Saint-Marcelin and the Grenoble walnuts. And to wash it all down, the Chartreuse is here! A green weekend, even in the glass! 🍸
