Gear up to tackle one of the most challenging and epic bikepacking events in Poland! UltraLajkonik isn’t just a race—it’s a true test of character, winding through the most demanding and most scenic corners of Lesser Poland. The event base is usually located in the town Bartkowa-Posadowa on the edge of the Rożnowskie Lake (Stalownik Centre), which guarantees a start and finish in a stunning natural setting. It’s an autonomous adventure where you, your bike, and endless climbs become one🚴‍♂️⛰️.

You’ll typically have a choice of several distances to suit both ambitious amateurs and hard-core ultramarathoners: Ultra Lajkonik (about 1000 km) – the absolute royal route with a gigantic elevation gain (up to 25,000 m!), for true “tough nuts,” or shorter routes like Mini Lajkonik (about 250 km) or Lajkonik Route.

On the return leg, after you’ve conquered the last climb toward Stalownik, Lesser Poland offers perfect conditions to recover:

Relaxation by Rożnowskie Lake – your oasis of calm after the race. You can refresh tired legs in the water or simply rest on the shore, watching the sunset over the dam🌊.

Visit Gródek nad Dunajcem – a nearby resort town where you’ll find excellent spots for a recovery meal with views of the “sea of Lesser Poland” and on Monkey Island🏝️.

The Wooden Architecture Trail – the race route often passes near historic wooden churches and Orthodox churches. If you still have energy for a stroll, the Bartkowa area hides many such gems, offering a moment of spiritual calm⛪.

Flavors of Sądecczyzna – after burning thousands of calories climbing toward Prehyba or other summits, nothing tastes better than local pierogi, sauerkraut soup, or traditional cheeses from Lesser Poland hosts🥟🧀. Remember that UltraLajkonik typically takes place around the First of May Bridge, which means you can count on the vivid green of a waking nature, but also on capricious mountain weather.
