Head to the Côtes-d'Armor in Brittany to discover the Défi de la Vall'Rance, a backyard trail accessible for friends or family. A 7.7 km loop to run as many times as possible within a 12-hour window, with the option of relays between runners. The start is at Château de Couëllan, in the heart of a 5-hectare wooded park between Caulnes and Guitté.
Today, head to the Côtes-d'Armor in Brittany to discover the Défi de la Vall'Rance, a trail backyard to explore with your friends or family! 🤞 It’s set in the privileged backdrop of the Château de Couëllan 🏰, located between Caulnes and Guitté, where this event takes place. The organizers love their local heritage and want to support and showcase it with this ⚡ challenge. Château de Couellan was built between the 15th and 18th centuries and sits at the heart of a pretty wooded park of 5 hectares, whose many charms you’ll discover while running 🌳. A delight for the senses, especially in spring! 😍
So how does the Défi de la Vall'Rance work? A loop trail of 7.7 km can be run as many times as you want in 12 hours... 🥵 Nobody will stop you until you go above an hour per loop. Got it? You have it? ⏱️ Pick your pace and enjoy the joys of life at a castle 👑. What’s great about this format is that it welcomes runners of all levels. Oh, and one more thing: the race can be run in relay, with each runner doing a lap every two 🤝.
The Côtes-d’Armor, formerly known as Côtes-du-Nord until 1990, may change names, but they cannot hide the natural wonders found in the department 🗾. If you’ve already covered a few kilometers to reach the Défi de la Vall'Rance, we can only recommend, after your race, to push a little further to the sea to discover the Côte d'Emeraude, the Coast of Granite Rose, the Goëlo or the Ajoncs d'or 🏝️. The department is rich; you’ll have plenty of choices to build a wonderful extended weekend road-map 🚍.
How could you choose between discovering the Baie de Saint-Brieuc (the department’s capital) or the one at Cap Fréhel which leads to the Fort la Latte, a place where the connection between humans, land and sea is celebrated 🌊. Located inland, Dinan remains a must-stop with its 3 km of ramparts and medieval walls 🤩. In Pontrieux, we announce another little Venice 😊. The Bay of Saint-Malo and Dinard, just opposite, bring joy to travelers in Brittany 🥧. If the famous GR34 goes all around the region, it’s because every kilometer is a gem. You’ll discover it again in Tréguier, right next to the beautiful Paimpol, or in Quintin, the town of the weavers… 🏺
