Le Grand Huit Avallon Vézelay Morvan

This is an extraordinary experience we’re about to share with you! 🔥 Here, we’re not talking about trail, marathon, or even a backyard! 👊 The Grand Huit Avallon Vézelay Morvan is a walk that has only one distance: 135 km ! 🥵 To spice things up in this competition 🌶️, the race is a relay, where every kilometer will be run by a team. 🤝 Teams can be made up of 4 to 8 runners and during the event 3 runners must be walking simultaneously 👯‍♂️. The relays let you pace yourself on certain portions of the course 💤. Moreover, you’ll be in the beautiful region of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté where you’ll get to roam, which means you’ll discover many things 👀. Between the heritage exceptional, the flower-filled countryside of June and the culture, you won’t come back from your weekend empty-handed! 💪

Vézelay is a small commune that welcomes many visitors 📸 every year. Perched on a small hill (called the eternal hill by pilgrims 🤓), its main symbol is the Basilique Sainte-Marie-Madeleine ⛪. Classified as a UNESCO World Heritage, this Romanesque building had quite a reputation in the Middle Ages 😌. From a historic point of view, Avallon is also a village with a strong character, surrounded by ancient ramparts, this former military stronghold 🪖 guards precious relics of the past 📚. You’ll find the Clock Tower 🕰️ from the 15th century or the Saint-Lazare Collegiate Church of the 8th century. For nature lovers, it’s the perfect spot 🥰. The town has blended its space with gardens 🌷, forests 🌳 or even parks ⛲. All in all, the small terrace cafés ring with birdsong in the trees! 🕊️

For the race, you’ll need a bag packed with essential equipment 🎒 which you can find in our FAQ. Yes, 135 km is planned! Two loops are to be completed, one of 65 km and one of 70 km 🥾. On these kilometers, you’ll tackle very hilly and green trails. They’ll take you through the Bourgogne in a different light, not to mention great wine 🍷 or gastronomy 🍳. Let yourself be seduced by the variety of its heritage and enjoy an experience that will leave you with plenty of memories to carry in your head! 🤩

The event supports 4 charitable organizations! 🎗️ To help them €100 from each registration will be donated, to assist in several areas, people in precarious situations. Walking to help others, it’s a noble cause, right? ❤️
