The GFNY Vaujany Croix de Fer invites you to challenge the peaks in Isère, at the heart of the region Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, for an adventure that will seriously shake your cycling beliefs 🚴. The GFNY Alpes Vaujany takes place in June, right when the mountains wear their greenest coat 🏔️. With 2 events on the program spread over a weekend, the event boasts numbers that will leave you dizzy: an XXL route 118 km for 4 000 mD+ 📈 and a shorter but formidable format of 43 km for 1 800 mD+ 🤪. The terrain is a real workout for the legs, where alpine pavement doesn’t yield without a fierce battle ⚔️. The big route starts with a descent from the perched village of Vaujany, a pressure build‑up before the first big climb: the Col de la Croix de Fer ⬆. We’re talking about 25 km of continuous ascent 🥵. You’ll first pass through a dense forest before unveiling the splendor of the lac de Grand'Maison 💧. The summit, at 2 067 m, offers a breathtaking panorama (even if you’ve got little left 😂). After a rapid descent toward Saint Jean de Maurienne, a valley stretch lets you catch your breath before tackling the Col du Glandon : 21.3 km at 6.9 % average 💥. Be warned, the slope wears you down, especially with pace changes demanded by the switchbacks 😵‍💫 . The towns you pass, like the Rivier d’Allemont, hum with the runners and the aid stations bring back smiles when the grades push indecent percentages 😫. Once the final challenge is conquered, the climb to the finish in Vaujany with its steady switchbacks at 8.6 %, the party is in full swing 🥳.
