Gruissan Poli Trail

A nature trail in full Occitania to kick off the new year — are you in? Set your course for Gruissan, in the Aude department, to take part in the Gruissan Poli Trail in January. It’s a gathering for runners of all levels who want to enjoy the great outdoors. ☀️

The Gruissan Poli Trail, defines a trail for everyone. In addition to kids’ races to introduce the little ones to the joys of the sport, there are 6 distances offered by the organizers. If you’re feeling “Girl power,” the Grussanote is exclusively for women and covers 8 km. You can also tackle “La ronde des Chevriers” of 12 km, the “ Traïlhounet ” of 18 km, “ las Caladas ” 25 km and finally the “ Gruissan Poli Trail ” on 50 km. For this big beast, you can participate solo or in a 2- or 3-person relay 👥 . And finally, if you want to enjoy the scenery at a relaxed pace, you can opt for the Nordic walking at 10 km. That’s all of them! 😅

All routes are laid out in the Parc Naturel Régional de la Narbonnaise in the Mediterranean, a pristine 80,000 hectares to the east of the department, featuring lagoons, vineyards, sandy beaches, garrigue, and rocky, steep passages around du massif de la Clape 🏞 . This area has been protected since 1973, and you’ll understand why as you Run through this unique environment, especially around the emblematic Pech Redon chest, gorges and wooded valleys. It’s the perfect trail to discover the beauty of the Narbonne countryside, its forests and the Gruissan lake. Breathtaking elevation changes and panoramas: what more could you ask for?

After all that effort, you’ll deserve a bit of rest 🏖️ . The seaside resorts de Gruissan-Plage, Leucate and of course Narbonne-Plage are waiting to show you the range of water activities available. If you prefer cultural heritage, Carcassonne is just a stone’s throw away. After a stroll along the famous walls, you can treat yourself to the famous ramparts, then enjoy a regional cassoulet. If you’ve got a sweet tooth, Limoux nougat is well worth a taste. 🍬
