About this event
Starting from Chanac, Lozère Trail invites you to traverse unique landscapes between the Gorges du Tarn and the Cévennes National Park, in an exceptional natural setting. Choose from two hikes of 10 or 20 km and up to 5 trail routes, including the legendary 27 km, sometimes in pairs, with varied sections and moments of conviviality around the terroir. The weather should be pleasant, ideal for enjoying this athletic experience in Lozère.
But yes, oze! Put on your shoes 👟, your poles, your good mood and your motivation and come join us in the Land of Oz 🪄. No flying monkeys 🐒, don’t worry, but some breathtaking landscapes! Set in the Ozian Occitania, in June, you’ll enjoy optimal temperatures 🌞. Sure, you won’t be at the Parc Astérix, but that doesn’t mean your heart won’t do roller coasters 🎢. Whether you’re starting from Chanac, from Sainte-Enimie or from the Emerald City 💎, you’ll have a choice between 2 hiking routes. However, if you want to get to your destination as fast as possible and prove yourself, you have 5 trail routes available, including one you can do in pairs with your trusty partner 🤝. But don’t worry, we’ll tell you everything about the magical world that will unfold before you, between the Parc National des Cévennes and the Parc Naturel Régional de l’Aubrac, with the Lozère Trail ⬇️.
So do you want to enjoy a magical atmosphere without venturing into the Forbidden Forest or being chased by the Wicked Witch of the West? 🧙♀️ You can head to Lozère, in the prime spot Natura 2000 🎖. On the other hand, if you’re more the indecisive type, good luck, because the race options are varied! Starting from Chanac or Sainte-Enimie so, you have the choice between two hikes of 10 km (300 mD+) or 20 km (700 mD+) 🚶, or else some trails of 12 km (500 mD+), the "Salta Bartas", or from 27 km (1 100 mD+), named humbly "Lozère Trail". You can also choose the "Skyrace des Gorges du Tarn" of 25 km 1 900 mD+), which will send you to the stars ✨. For those not afraid of getting wet, there’s the "Lozère trail 2 rivers" 💦 of 52 km (2 400 mD+). Finally, the boldest can attempt the "Ultra Lozère Trail" of 110 km (5 600 mD+) in two stages. But wait! The great surprise is that you can motivate a partner to come with you to tackle this monumental event in duo🔗. Afterward, if you’re a true loner or your "friends" aren’t reliable 😂, you can still sign up for the event in solo. There are also kids’ races and hikes of 10 or 20 km are also offered. You’ve got it: there’s no excuse not to participate in this competition... Especially since it takes place in an exceptionally natural setting! 😍 Quick weather note: the weather and temperatures should be quite pleasant at this time of year. Jackpot! 💰
As explained above, the different routes will take you to run in natural and wild areas that are among the best-preserved in France 🇫🇷. Renowned worldwide for their beauty and importance in ecosystems and biodiversity, four of them have even been classified as a natural area of ecological, faunal, and floristic interest 🦋. Also, the Gorges du Tarn are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site UNESCO World Heritage. Impressive! Definitely, Lozériens have nothing to be ashamed of. We haven’t even told you yet about the Barjac Cliffs and the Causse des Blanquets… But hey, you guessed it! If we mention these, it’s because you’ll see all these things and more, lucky you! 🍀 Steep cliffs across high mountains, deep and rugged canyons, rivers, streams, waterfalls, lakes, plains 🍃, lush forest vegetation and villages... 🤩 You can say the landscape will be varied and you won’t have time to (Tarn)n.” The Pougnadoires Cirque will also dazzle you, just like the banks of the Tarn 💙.
"Causse always interests you", you’ll say, "it’s all about nature, but we’d also like to be sure we can enjoy the rest" 🙄. Don’t panic! Imagine that the organizers have prepared a sweet, onion-garnished program 🤌. Beers and local dishes await you on arrival. And double the reward = double the fun! Those who commit to the ultra will sleep in des marabouts (bous, bous, bout d’ficelle), in a bivouac camp ⛺. At the end of your effort, you’ll even get a hammam, a jacuzzi and a Swedish massage... Nice recovery, right? 💁♀️ Here’s an experience that will probably disconnect you from the world and bend time. Is there a better weekend plan?
If you want to discover more about the region, you can make a quick stop at the Château de la Caze. Are your legs still alive? Perfect, then you can head to Saint-Georges de Lévéjac which offers the best view of the Gorges du Tarn 👀. Hungry or not so hungry? La Lozère has plenty to treat you. Taste the manouls or the croquants de Mende, regional specialties 😉. Why not also drop into the local cheesery to grab a little piece of Laguiole or Bleu des Causses? 🤤 If all these ideas have you itching to go, you can also swing by the Loup Park of Gévaudan. And if your thing is exploring underground, there will be a real earthquake in your heart when you visit the Grottes des Demoiselles, the Grottes de Clamouse or Aven d’Orgnac, just a short drive away 🪂.
Grab your binoculars! Ready? Let’s go! 🚀
